Garbage. And while the 180% car tax is true, that's because it's a small compact country that wants to encourage public transportation.

Quote:In short, it's true Denmark's taxes are far higher than those in the United States, but that's offset by significantly reduced costs to citizens for expenditures such as healthcare, education, and child care. A gallon of gas doesn't cost Danes anywhere near $10, but tax on new cars is 180%. We were unable to find any ranking of Denmark as the "highest-taxed" nation in the world (or even just Europe), and home ownership rates are near what they are in the U.S. (There are far more privately-owned vehicles in the United States than Denmark, however.) Denmark's suicide rate is lower than that of the U.S., and antidepressant usage is higher among Americans. Finally, while some young Danes moved abroad due to high taxes on income, we were unable to find any evidence that was the case for companies.

The meme it was ripping off:

Denmark ranks second now, but their tax rate in 2008 was 62.3% which would have had them at number one.

Suicide Rates -
Denmark 11.3 per 100,000
US 10.1 per 100,00

HIGHER in Denmark than the US.

I don't have time to look at the rest.

I've taken international research classes and been to a conference on the subject. One of the things they pound in your head is to be careful in comparing different countries' attitudinal-based answers to questions, straight up. Cultural norms and differences play a role in how people answer surveys and scaled questions.

They may be satisfied with a lot of their services, but got to be careful in doing an apples-to-apples comparison across countries on such things as "happiness index" and so on.

Some of this is touched on this article re: Denmark.

Ah, the Democrats randomly opened the Bible for one verse as a meager attempt to guilt Christians. Unfortunately, the simple minded always fall for it.

Show me in the bible where Jesus was asked to perform a gay wedding, and he complied.

Also, Jesus said "it is not the healthy that need a doctor, but the sick." Keep that in mind.

This reminded me of the time my wifes' family and I played cards for money. I beat them like a dead horse and won quite a chunk but my wife started feeling sorry for them and she talked, er, no nagged, for me to give it back. I gave them a portion back and I've made it clear that I'll never play cards with her family for money ever. Hummmmppphh.
