HMM, you going to the game? If so, hope you can do some twitter pictures.
Will be there. My crew handles the Twitter pictures.

Decency? It's not their fault we let that game slip away and gave them a MAC championship. Are they rubbing our nose in it? I'm sure they are, but in my opinion, its hardly worth getting overly bothered by it. Just kick their butts on Saturday, and remind their fans that it's now 2010, and we're moving forward and refusing to dwell on the past.

79, Of course it's our fault we lost. But it's not good sportsmanship. If I beat someone at something, I'm not going to remind them about it when I see them. It's a classless thing to do. I surely wouldn't celebrate the victory later in their presence.

Gentlemen, gentlemen! Surely you know that Kent read, Kent write, Kent State fans refer to crAKRON U. as .............ROOtards?!

Oh man, those classless Padres. Did they get the idea from Akron?

From today's Tribune:

SAN DIEGO — Every generation of Cubs fans has their own heartbreak, and for those who came of age in the 1980s, memories of the '84 playoff collapse against the Padres still linger.

The Padres like to remind the Cubs of their worst nightmare on an annual basis, staging their 25th anniversary celebration of the '84 team when the Cubs came to town last summer, and wearing their '84 throwback uniforms on Thursday at Petco Park.

LOL

It's fun and gets the fans fired up. I think Akron is doing the right thing. I also hope the Huskies whomp 'em.

Go Huskies!!!

PS: I really can't stand Steve Garvey and the Padres for that '84 debacle. I actually had World Series tickets for the Cubbies.

So the Padres are trash too, not sure how that means it's good what Akron is doing. Just because someone else jumps off a bridge doesn't mean it's a good idea for me to do so.

RE: **** You Akron! - HuskieRak - 10-01-2010 09:05 AM

Some people just ***** way too much.. Get over it people, its not a big ******* deal. It's life, people are going to rub it into your face when you lose.

I was referring to an earlier post that I made that I like the idea.

It's sports. It's supposed to be fun. There's some good reflections on this in the Dog Fan thread.

The Akron/Padres thing helps create rivalries. Rivalries are fun and great for the fans.

Look what's happened. We have an F Akron thread and the game will be more fun 'cause we're all fired up. If Akron wins (God help us), their fans wills be all excited to relive past glories, etc.

Anyway, that's my view and you have yours. Hopefully, we can coexist at Huskie Stadium on Oct. 9.

Go Huskies!!!

RE: **** You Akron! - HuskieFan84 - 10-01-2010 09:20 AM

It should be fun.. I think to rub in a victory I have over someone is small and childish. I wouldn't do it. If you like to gloat like a fool, that's your thing.

I remember in 2008, when CMU came to DeKalb, the scoreboard showed highlites of the Huskies beating up on the 2006 team and metioned such Huskie trivia like how CMU had not won in DeKalb since 1977, and how the Huskies ended their long losing streak in 1998 by beating CMU, so maybe we should not be criticizing Akron for reminiscing about their bygone days. If the Huskies ever win the MAC again, maybe we can rub it in on the MCC loser five years later.

RE: **** You Akron! - cyberdawg - 10-01-2010 01:25 PM

It really aint all that big a deal.
I really dont believe in the wisdom of "running up a score" in general nor do I think NIU and Kill would do so if in such a position - WHICH IS NOT A GIVEN, FOLKS!

Only occasion I see fit for such a practice if you are delivering payback for dirt done to you. The Hail Mary in 2005 does not qualify as a game when an opponent rubbed your nose in piles of sh!t.

Well, looks like the Cubs at least made them pay for it and basically knocked the Padres out of the playoffs this year by winning 3 of 4 games in this series.

Seems like the Huskies should take note and do the same...

RE: **** You Akron! - sterling1man - 10-01-2010 09:14 PM

NIU will beat Akron by at least 2 TD's.

RE: **** You Akron! - DiehardHuskie - 10-03-2010 02:44 PM

When was the ceremony? If it was at halftime, the hundred people that were at the game might have missed it.

RE: **** You Akron! - armour248 - 10-03-2010 02:48 PM

Between the first and second quarter

"San Diego (90-72) missed a chance to force a Monday tiebreaker for the NL West. The loser of that would have flown to Atlanta to determine the wild card.

The Padres led the division by 6 1/2 games before a 10-game losing streak from Aug. 26 to Sept. 5."

Yeah, I still do get some strange satisfaction out of this.
