When the dust settles if Tech is not in CUSA they will go belt. Can almost guarantee it, unless the WAC invites a whole lot of Texas teams and waves a carrot to get us to stay but I doubt it. All this die before Belt stuff is coming from fans not the administration. They would be stupid to actually say we will never be in the belt.

Sorry, you are 100% WRONG. This guy is the Tech beat writer, and his writings are anything but pro ULM or SBC.

He had a choice though. He could have chosen to play 4 hours West in the plush facilities at North Texas. He chose the dump in the middle of nowhere though.

His choice was to follow the coach, plain and simple.

If these pics of La Tech are so old....please provide us with new ones. I'm really curious about those 'lush trees and rolling hills'.

He's the Dave Kingman of posters and odds are there are three of you who get that reference.

Every board needs someone to kick around....Drew is our resident kicking bag. Though....if he starts talking about my mother again, I may have to make a stop in Memphis during the next ASU home game.

Kingman reference.....nah.....didn't get that one. I'm not a baseball fan at all. Had to look it up.
Quote:During his final year in Oakland in 1986, Kingman sent a live rat wrapped in a pink box to Sue Fornoff, a sportswriter for the Sacramento Bee newspaper. The rat had a tag attached to it that read, "My name is Sue." Fornoff claimed that Kingman had told her that women do not belong in the clubhouse, and that he harassed her several times since he began covering the team the year before. For his part, Kingman claimed it was practical joke. The A's fined Kingman $3,500 and warned that he would be released if a similar incident occurred again.

They aren't making near the basketball money they made before and many of the units earned since were earned under an NCAA cloud. ESPN slashed their money for 2005 and their exposures and rumor-mill indicates they will be very lucky if they just hold on to the TV dollars they have now, but if they lose a team or two, they will lose dollars in the next contract.

Their premier bowl is the Liberty and their newest contract provides for a method for the Liberty to send the champ to Birmingham and pit Big East vs SEC in the Liberty.

But what C-USA has is higher profile universities than the sunbelt, pretty much across the board (there are 1 or 2 exceptions). That's why teams want to go to C-USA. That's really why La Tech wants to go to C-USA.

And that's ultimately what keeps C-USA's TV contract in pretty good stead and basically the same as the MWC's despite the MWC's on the field superiority and your (inaccurate) pronouncements for the last several years that the TV deal would turn to squat.

The sunbelt certainly could overcome that by fielding great football teams...but they haven't yet. That's what Boise State did. Low profile schools that plays great football.
Boise also sucks at every other sport other than football.

I think they are planning to break ground in 2 years. They have raised about half the cost, from what I've been told.

i think that is about the time frame UL is looking to start renovations and additions to Cajun Field.

RE: Let Tech Starve... - arkstfan - 08-28-2010 09:15 PM

I compare Drew to Dave Kingman because you always wanted to see him bat. He might hit a record distance home run or more often, a stunningly inept strikeout. He was usually at the top of the league in homers and toward the bottom in strikeouts and batting average.

RE: Let Tech Starve... - bstnsportsfan3 - 08-28-2010 09:37 PM

Awesome...you guys will have a great end zone and a dumpy stadium...and we will have a kick-ass one of a kind stadium (first ever gold leed certified and first college stadium made by HKS, same people who did cowboys stadium) and one of the best Non-AQ athletic villages....LA TECH couldn't hold UNT's jock strap right now...and i hope LA TECH doesn't get a Belt invite because it would suck for our teams to ever have to spend a night in Rustin...do yall even have a Hotel in that tiny ass town?

you dont get it do you?

Louisiana Tech dropping football or dropping down in athletics in general is exactly what the entire Sun Belt wants to happen. Doing that would instantly make Louisiana Monroe a more viable football destination, but them at a higher level then tech, make ULM stronger and thus make the SBC stronger.

If you guys want to tear down your football program before joining our little league, we are all for it. In fact I imagtine we'd gladly show up with our pick axe's and sledgehammers and help you with the entire process

The Sun Belt doesnt need La Tech...we'd take them to get us to 12 teams and a conference title game...but we're not begging or anything. if you dont want to come great. we can stay at 10 where we're already steadingly improving or pick up NMSU and an FCS and get to 12 and we'll all get together around the campfire and have a drink to the demise of Louisiana Tech

So please tear down that football stadium...we beg you. It would be a national Holliday for the entire conference. we'll forget our squabbles with each other and all hold hands and sing Kumbyyah and dance on your grave.,..

Peace

No. The excuse for not being able to entice the kind of athletes Tech does.

All sports ?:odie:

Big 3 (football, basketball, women's basketball). Historically speaking.

(I doubt Tech's facilities have ever been better than UNT's. We don't charge student fees).

Big 3 ? How about soccer, tennis, volley ball, softball, etc. You are trying to parce an answer. I also do doubt that you have superior talent to UNT in men's basketball.

I hate to even post in these threads about Tech but,

Are you kidding? Last year Tech had a 6'5" shooting guard (Gibson) that will play in the NBA at some point (hurt at the end of the year). Rolle 6'11" 2nd round NBA draft pick (hurt at the end of the season). Olu Ashaolu 6-7 g/f who will be at least a 2nd round pick one day.

Two of Tech's best players were hurt before the WAC tournament and it cost them a trip the NIT at a minimum.
