I also found this article where Byrd discusses the difficulties in creating a schedule for a Mid-Major program where they mention games next year with MTSU, Tennessee, Troy, Miami, Tennessee State, and Alabama State.

It is easy to be optimistic in the spring, but I really think that our bunch could beat a rebuilding UT early in the season. I liked seeing that. I am not predicting a win, but I certainly would not count us out of that one. They lost a whole lot of production from three starters.

I am glad to see Miami in the mix. I like the idea of an ACC team coming to the Curb Event Center. I hope it is just the first in a long line of teams from the major conferences coming to the Curb.

I'm not picky. I don't need the top flight teams from the major conferences, I am happy with an Iowa or Penn St. from the Big 10 or Auburn out of the SEC or Nebraska out of the Big 12. Any of those teams create a greater interest for fans than Alabama State or Eastern Illinois.

I don't think they mean The U, it's Miami Univ from Ohio. Still a good team from a good conference, but not quite the ACC. We can still dream though. 03-wink

Drew Kelly who we recruited hard last year, signed with them but transferred to Morehead St. at Christmas after one semester. Apparently his father is the coach at a high school near Morehead.
