DO NOT WATCH!

Rarely, and I mean rarely, do I ever turn a movie off before it is over. Turning it off 30 minutes in was an easy choice with this movie.

Holy shiite it was bad.

Bridesmaids. Wasn't my ideal choice but we've got a 15 month old and I haven't been to a theater since he was born. I wanted to get out so I was going to agree to just about anything. Turns out, this movie was a gem. It's the chick answer to The Hangover. Melissa McCarthy (Molly from Mike and Molly TV show) steals every scene she's in. Shockingly raunchy. It's not a perfect movie, by a long shot. Get's bogged down a couple of times when it can't decide what kind of movie it wants to be, but the funny stuff is so funny that you forgive the moments in between. Stay for the extra scenes during the first part of the credits.

Bottom line: If your wife/fiance/girlfriend is telling you that it's about time you took her to a "chick flick" this is the one to see.

I've been watching them on Netflix, and it's pretty shiny. After I'm done with the series, I'm gonna move on to Serenity.

Got the DVD for Christmas. Just re-watched I to compare w/ Tron. Wife actually watched it w/ me.

Haven't seen III yet, in any venue.

II was ok....but the whole The Architect thing seemed to not jive with The Animatrix story of how the world got to having a Matrix in the first place. I definitely recommend watching the The Animatrix. Cool animation styles of episodes based on "The Matrix" universe.

Love that show, can't imagine what genius decided it should have been cancelled after one season. The Serenity movie was really good too.

I recommend Equilibrium. It's older than the Matrix but it's what I think of when I see it. Lots of cool effects and a very good story line, a must see if your a fan of the Science Fiction genre

probably the same dude who cancelled V, but picked up Happy Endings for a 2nd season

I'd say the Matrix is closer to Ghost in the Shell (anime).

Not movies, but...

Ive been watching Six Feet Under again lately... on the last season now... great show... one of the best Series Finales I have ever seen... plan on moving on to The Wire after this.

Also watching Game of Thrones and Treme... both great shows as well

RE: The movie thread - gotigers1 - 05-19-2011 01:16 PM

Game of Thrones is fantastic...also I highly recommend watching Camelot if you can.

former is amazing! latter is very good, but definitely not in the same league of the former.

Saw Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides; it was aight.

i thought it was the best of the 4.

Also saw bridesmaids, which was quite funny, but definitely not as good as the hangover or wedding crashers.

I saw it last night. It was pretty good.

I'd say:

1>2>4>3

Black Beard was sufficiently bad ass.

I can agree with that. At World's End was flat-out deplorable. The only redeeming values it had were the Hans Zimmer score and the cinematography. The acting was kinda dull and the script was utterly hackneyed.

Rambling Black Man eh? Similar to a mad black woman?

My problem with three is it had to resolve too many plot twists. While they resolved all of them it was way too many to digest in one movie. Also, they UNDERUTILIZED my boy Chow Yun Fat. he's too good of a actor to get so little screen time IMO. Thirdly was Sparrow's mind trip on the beaches of white sand... WTF?!

Friday the 13th I and II / dvd
--Pretty decent movies IMO. IT still blows my mind that he didn't get his mask till III and that is what is most associated with him. And III, even by this series standards was CRAP.

--Special features on both discs are a good watch as well.

You jest, but it was originally supposed to be the Journal of a Mad Black Man; I changed my mind because I figured no one wanted to see another mad black man. Besides, I rarely get mad...I always ramble.

I absolutely hated what they did with Chow Yun Fat, Will and Elizabeth's story was utter twaddle speak, and it was like Johnny Depp was sleepwalking through that mind trip scene. Another thing I didn't really care for was the fact that you didn't really see Sparrow until about 45-50 minutes in. He's the main attraction, with Barbossa being a close second; the ambiguously androgynous duo were not.

That could have been a great movie series if they didn't try so damn hard to make a franchise out of it. If 2 and 3 would've been standalone movies, it would've been loads better.
