What happened to Stetson? I figured once UCF and FAU were gone, they'd own the joint.

King of Stetson - what say you?

RE: 2010 Atlantic Sun Baseball - MercerFan - 03-18-2010 02:49 PM

King of Stetson has been absent for a while... It's strange how the tournament is no longer in Deland either... it's at Lipscomb (who might not make their own tourney!)

RE: 2010 Atlantic Sun Baseball - HatterFan - 03-18-2010 07:46 PM

Our starting pitching is better than it's been in several years but the bullpen has had some struggles. Coughed up a late lead vs. UCF last night.

If Lipscomb doesn't qualify in baseball they should just send the girls softball team instead. They're 20-3 with some big name wins and a pitcher whose ERA is 0.08 - that's bleepin' nuts. Crazy good.

RE: 2010 Atlantic Sun Baseball - MercerFan - 03-18-2010 08:33 PM

wait is the ASUN tourney this year 6 teams or 8?

RE: 2010 Atlantic Sun Baseball - HatterFan - 03-19-2010 12:08 AM

6 teams - 10 teams are eligible, everyone except USC Upstate.

RE: 2010 Atlantic Sun Baseball - MercerFan - 03-19-2010 12:23 AM

ok good, i think the 6 team double elimination is a great format.

So what do you think of the Hatters and Gulf Coast series coming up? That's really gonna be a tense series.

RE: 2010 Atlantic Sun Baseball - HatterFan - 03-19-2010 11:37 AM

definitely gonna try to get to the ballpark tonight to watch FGCU's future top 10 draft pick Chris Sale pitch. Last year Stetson won the Friday night game against one of KSU's aces (Heckathorn, I think) - just would like to see what the buzz is about.

RE: 2010 Atlantic Sun Baseball - MercerFan - 03-28-2010 11:43 PM

Next weekend it's Mercer @ FGCU, and UNF @ ETSU. Combined the four teams have won all 9 of their ASUN series this year.

RE: 2010 Atlantic Sun Baseball - MercerFan - 04-05-2010 02:03 AM

The conference moved up two spots to #15, passing the Big Ten and Missouri Valley. ETSU slipped going 1-4 against some stiff competition. UNF and FGCU still undefeated in ASUN play.

Mercer got swept by Stetson at home, and here come the Hatters flying up the standings.

Florida-based teams are once again at the top of the A-Sun. What's the matter with all you other guys? 05-stirthepot

RE: 2010 Atlantic Sun Baseball - HatterFan - 04-19-2010 02:53 PM

Lipscomb and Kennesaw lost their stud pitchers to last year's draft, Belmont and ETSU have cooled off some after hot starts (although the Bruins did just take 2 of 3 from Stetson in Nashville), Mercer is a middlin', OK-kinda team, Campbell isn't very good and Upstate is just awful. Think that about covers it.

Stetson's RPI would be better if we'd ever win a mid-week game - feels like the Hatters are about 0-1000 against Bethune-Cookman and UCF this season. Dunno if we'll get that 2nd bid some people talked about earlier this year. FGCU is good, but they're not world-beaters. Should be a wild tournament.

RE: 2010 Atlantic Sun Baseball - st932253 - 04-20-2010 05:07 PM

Non Conference - UNF vs. UCF tonight.

UCF Alum and Jacksonville Jaguars WR Mike Sims-Walker throwing out the 1st pitch at UNF.

Strong mix of wierd and cool?

RE: 2010 Atlantic Sun Baseball - MercerFan - 04-20-2010 06:06 PM

UNF better win!!

RE: 2010 Atlantic Sun Baseball - st932253 - 04-20-2010 09:05 PM

Knights win 15-7

RE: 2010 Atlantic Sun Baseball - Buccaneerlover - 04-20-2010 10:34 PM

Is anyone coming to the A-Sun Tourney?

RE: 2010 Atlantic Sun Baseball - MercerFan - 04-22-2010 12:26 AM

USC Upstate won their first ASUN series of the year recently.. fittingly it was over Campbell who as we know is heading out of the A-Sun. I'm glad for Upstate, but this coming weekend Mercer needs to sweep them!
