Great muffaletta sammich

I don't think their menu has changed since they fed me thru college (I always pay a visit or two when in town). The prices have quadrupled. Damn, I'm getting old.

You can still have dinner for two for under $20--no corkage for wine---take home more than you eat---IMHO one of the best dining values in Memphis. The back room is worth the visit---it's a WWII museum.

The area around the house has gone downhill.

There are at least 7 houses for sale in the immediate vicinity for $1000,000 plus.

I know Blues Stadium really wasn't a landmark but I sure had some good memories there seeing games and growing up in the late 60's and 70's. Notice the orange clip on 'rent-a-seats' in the Liberty Bowl. They were from the previous night's Memphis Grizzlies WFL game.

like KRB said, great times there at that park. As a teenager, I had a job one summer working on a clean up crew at Blues Stadium. The smell of leftover warm beer and shredded peanuts on muggy summer days was not worth whatever pittance they paid me. But it was a cool job just being in the stadium and on the field. Awesome capture of the Grizzlies WFL orange seats. It really makes you realize how small the LB was before they expanded the visitors' side.

I only ever knew it as Timmy Mac. Got to see Bo Jackson play, and Michael Jordan attempt to.

Also heckled Bob Costas from the left-field bleachers when he was a celebrity coach for the AA All Star Game.

Dino's Southwestern Grill is Killer. Spent many a buck in there.

Anybody have pictures of the Four Way Grill at Mississippi and Walker, especilly the back dining room? Used to eat there once or twice a month. Best fried chicken ever (sorry grandma) and the little cornbread muffins. Had to ring the bell to get in the back door because they kept it locked. Dot wouldn't let you order two sweets. If you had the baked apples as a side, she wouldn't let you eat the peach cobbler for dessert. It was to die for (sorry again grandma).

That's a good one Tip, I've been thrown in and out of there.

If it wasn't the original one, it doesn't count.

I could be wrong, but I think that is the clubhouse at Overton Park Golf Course. I played it on Wed. It's fun for a short course. I still haven't figured out how to make a putt on #5 green.

RE: Memphis Landmarks - tigerjeb - 07-23-2010 10:28 AM

anybody got any photos of the old park theater and park ave. bowling alley? i spent many a day in those two places. the doors and stairs down to the basement where the bowling alley was are still there - i have always wondered if the lanes are still in there.

I can't remember if Godfather's Pizza came before or after Solomon Alfred's.
