Obama won by a lot, so I doubt if any "bandwagon" effect mattered. What bothers me is that the talking heads of the news media take flawed stats and present flawed conclusions. Many people pay attention to these dolts (some people still think the "news" matters) so it's a feedback loop influencing people.

Just like teachers. They exert influence w/ very little knowledge of a subject.

i think that was the problem with my sister's math teacher in high school last year. according to my dad (who's good at math), she barely knew anything about math.

the funny thing about that is, one of my friends just applied to teach for america and was rejected. The guy is a math major at UNC-chapel hill, so he definitely knows a good deal about math, yet they didn't accept him. He wanted to teach in an inner city school. I bet most math teachers there are pretty shoddy.
