Stand up against the NCAA's big 6/BCS bias - ncrdbl1 - 04-09-2008 01:05 AM

It is time to stand up against the big 6/BCS conferences. For too long they have screwed over the non BCS schools and this time it cost a team a national championship. It is being reported that it was not the official scorer or one of the coaches who asked for a review of the three point basket by Derrick Rose in the NCAA championship game. It was a sideline reporter. Yes, you heard it correctly a member of the pro big6/BCS media that determined the outcome of a championship game. It is a clearly unethical for anyone outside of the NCAA to have access to an officiating crew during a game. Allowing non NCAA personnel access to game officials could invite similar problems that occurred in the NBA when a game official became involved in illegal gambling on games. Contact the NCAA demand action be taken on this matter. Demand an investigation both internal and possibly criminal. Demand the reporter be barred from all NCAA sporting events and the officiating crew be fired. This may not be your team but if they can get away with it this time then nothing can stop them from doing it over and over again. Then no non big6/BCS school will ever be able to compete. We must stick together to eliminate the Big6/BCS bias in the NCAA.

Remember this, your school could be next. With the 12 team schedule a winning record is no longer required to be bowl eligable only 6 wins. With the BCS bias a Sunbelt team is required to go undefeated and be in the top 14 to make it to a BCS bowl. While it is possible for a team from the big 6 conferences to make a BCS bowl with a LOSING record. Win your side of the conference with a 5-7 record and the win the conference title game you sit 6-7 you're bowl eligable and you make a BCS bowl IF you are a big 6 conference team. Do not forget that Florida St once made it to a BCS bowl while being unranked going into the conference title game.

you know, I'd have a lot more sympathy for Memphis and their fans and your argument if not for the knowledge, having read the Memphis board for years and observed the smug attitude that exceeds almost anything I see on any board this side of vandymania, that Memphis and their fans would be not care a whit about a similar thing if Memphis had been invited to the Big East at the same time as UofL and Cincy and this were against another team not a member of the BC$/big six conferences instead of Memphis. Memphis fans wouldn't give say a UAB, a Davidson, a Western Kentucky, or a Gonzaga the time of day....

Memphis should have hit its free throws.....

I'll take any allies I can get at this point. Screw the BCS.

Case in point USF gets away with being below the APR yet again and loses no scholarships yet FIU loses eight.

Gee, does it have something to do with the BCS tag?
