Can you feel the shift? - ETSUfan1 - 02-13-2008 11:27 PM

I'm starting to feel brunt of the GOP's attack switch from Hillary to Barack because they feel McCain can beat Hillary. I guess Obama doesn't scare people like Hillary does, so they are in full attack mode against Obama.

Personally, it's anyone but McCain for me...

Personally, it's against anyone but "Mr. Electrolytes" for me. This is truly a dismal year for Democrats. They have NO one as a front runner who's accomplished a damn thing. Not saying I like McCain, The Politician, but he's more accomplished than the two Dem front runners.

I don't know about feeling the shift but I will definitely feel the shaft if Obama is elected and he rolls back the tax cuts and raises the FICA tax and coporate tax rates.

obama's tax plan:

Quote:The Wall Street Journal’s Steve Moore says Obama’s tax plan would add up to a 39.6 percent personal income tax, a 52.2 percent combined income and payroll tax, a 28 percent capital-gains tax, a 39.6 percent dividends tax, and a 55 percent estate tax.

if they jack those taxes like that the market will collapse.

there is a mix of those who want to see the Clinton's finished and those who realize she is so hated by so many and so well known that she could easily be beat. While Obama is a wildcard, unknown with no record of any accomplishment, yet has the "charisma" and "likeability" factor going. People will go out to vote against hillary, obama is a question mark.

If Obama's elected, those poor, poor, pitiful Democrats are going to see what it feels like to have their nuts in a vice by those "evil" rich people. I do believe the market will collapse. This is becoming similar to a dog biting the hand that feeds him.

Oh, and liberals, when the market collapses, the rich will be just fine. Think on that for a little while.

I have a feeling the market is going to collapse anyways, despite who is in office. I'm sure Bush is hoping it happens after he's out, so the blame will fall on the next administration....like the blame did for 9/11 when it was mostly the Clinton administrations fault.

Which is why he is predicting it now. So he can blame it on the Democrats when it does. The Repugs like to do that.

Market is not going to collapse and has weathered most of the bad economic data up to this point fairly well. The market will correct itself and that is always a healthy thing.
Some folks on this board see everything through the spectrum of a political scorecard and have little to no knowledge as to what moves a market or a economy. I give Bill Clinton credit because among other things that contributed to market growth in the 90's was his signing off on lowering the capital gains tax rate.
The U.S. government has had the good sense going back to 1921 to keep the capital gains rate fairly low except the period starting at WWII and lasting until Ronald Reagan cut them. Amazingly enough we saw the market flat line and stagnant through that same period.

The key part of the word capitalism is "capital" without it our economy would collapse. Deter people from investing capital into our economy and you will see a train wreck.

I throw up in my mouth a little when I say this but Hillary has more sense when it comes to the economy than Obama.

You clearly do not understand the impact consumer confidence has on the economy.

Hey, when you tell people day in and day out that the President sucks and the economy is in the toilet, they start to believe it. Great going, Dems. How's that mandate working for ya, Nancy Pelosi?

...but hey, I know there are more important things to worry about like Baseball.

Hey, at this point, if the Rpublicans can manipulate a Floor Fight in Denver by forcing Hillary to pull every dirty trick to grab the nomination, go for it.

Its already working since Rev. Al Sharpton promised a battle if Hillary tries to seat Michigan and Florida.

It will really piss offf the rank and file Democrats if Hillary grabs the nomination because of Superdelegates.

Let the Democrats tear each other up to the point that some Democrats refuse to vote for the nominee, and stay home in November.

If Obama is the nominee, I believe that McCain can beat him using the "Dukakis Strategy."

At this time in 1988 Dukakis had a big lead overy every potential Republican candidate because he didn't go into specifics on his positions. He talked in very general and nonspecific terms, just like Obama does now.

During the General Election, Bush 41 negated Dukakis' lead by making him get into details---details the voters didn't like.

Presidents have very little effect on the economy outside of taxes. This is a fact.

If Obama raises taxes, you will see the economy respond in kind by going further down.

All economies go through down times. The economy is cyclical.

Boom and bust is a natural economic reality...The keanyians have attempted to micro manage and try to obvert these cycles by playing with the money supply....There will be consequences for these actions...and its NOT going to be pretty.07-coffee3
