Is Brad Lidge burned out? - flyingswoosh - 04-24-2006 09:44 PM he just blew the game today with a GS to Nomah and his ERA is 6.97. I'm not basing this question on the first 2 weeks of the season, but on how many innings he's thrown in the past couple years. 2003- 85.0 IP 2004- 95.2 (playoffs as well) 2005- 71.2 (playoffs again) - Uzian - 04-24-2006 11:07 PM Well up until tonight he had converted 7/7 saves. The main problem he has been having is his location has been off which has made watching his outings nervewracking to say the least. As far as him being burned out I dont know, it doesnt seem like it to me, just loss of command. - flyingswoosh - 04-24-2006 11:44 PM Uzian Wrote:Well up until tonight he had converted 7/7 saves. He's got 15 K's in 10.2 innings which tells me he's still overpowering hitters. But he's been "wild in the strike zone" a little bit. He's just left a few balls over the plate and has gotten punished, but he won't make those mistakes all year. - zelinleaf - 04-25-2006 01:21 PM flyingswoosh Wrote:is his velocity down? The one Nomar hit out was clocked at 96mph, so I doubt his velocity is down. I hope we don't have to see him much when the 'stros come to down next week to play the Reds. - flyingswoosh - 04-25-2006 01:21 PM yipg Wrote:flyingswoosh Wrote:is his velocity down? The one Nomar hit out was clocked at 96mph, so I doubt his velocity is down. BTW, our awesome new reliever i told you about a few days ago, has gone on the DL after one appearance, with a strained oblique. It's amazing how many oblique injuries occur nowadays. - flyingswoosh - 04-25-2006 10:54 PM brad lidge sucked again tonight. - GDawgs88 - 04-25-2006 11:27 PM flyingswoosh Wrote:BTW, our awesome new reliever i told you about a few days ago, has gone on the DL after one appearance, with a strained oblique. I met him when he played in Augusta last year - good guy. - flyingswoosh - 04-25-2006 11:28 PM you met him? that's pretty cool. - GDawgs88 - 04-25-2006 11:30 PM Yeah, we chatted for a few minutes. He's a cool dude. And absolutely dominated in the minors last year, too. - flyingswoosh - 04-25-2006 11:31 PM GDawgs88 Wrote:Yeah, we chatted for a few minutes. He's a cool dude. Closers simply don't last long in this game, and his time as a dominant closer may have come and gone. We'll see. - flyingswoosh - 04-25-2006 11:39 PM this could definitely be a little slump. but one thing that is a fact, is the amount of innings he's thrown over the past 3 years. - Uzian - 04-25-2006 11:40 PM Currently in the longest regular season game in Minute Maid Park history |
