Anyone played the game yet?

- flyingswoosh - 03-31-2005 10:19 AM

yeah, i got it the other day. my only criticism is that it's really hard to hit on all star mode. i got shutout by pete munro.

- techfan4 - 03-31-2005 12:20 PM

munro. you know. the guy who's on the astros.

You're right...it's hard to get any runs in All-Star mode. I've started a Braves dynasty (which I'll keep y'all up to date on if you want me to). I started off 17-4 behind some incredible pitching. Since I went to All-Star mode, I've dropped to 21-11. The injury bug has really bit hard in the first month too...

- Johnny Estrada lost for 9 games with a dislocated finger.
- Smoltzie (who is 4-1 w/ a 0.96 ERA) is currently on the DL with a concussion after being hit by a line drive. :(
- Furcal was lost for the season after tearing up his shoulder trying to break up a double play.
- Just last night, I lost Chipper for the season after he blew out his MCL. :( :( :(

The bad:
Injuries, and Brian Jordan is hitting .198 with 4 RBI's in April. Andruw has also dropped into the .230's

The good:
Adam LaRoche is leading the league in homers with 13. Andruw has hit 7 homers in his last TWO games and raised his BA almost 50 pts.

i'm like 11-14 right now. i did a fantasy draft.

- techfan4 - 04-01-2005 01:37 AM

It simulates getting hit in the head with a line drive? WOW! 04-bow

When it gets about mid-season and trades have been made, I switch to fantasy draft. Just too hard to keep everything up-to-date.

There are also bench clearing balls and if you throw inside and a player doesn't like it, he may sling the bat out at the pitcher.

whaddya mean?

Like when I get tired of changing the teams constantly every day. So I switch to Fantasy draft when a bunch of trades have been made in real life.

Like when we buy it...its pretty much perfect...everyone on the right team. But about mid-season in real life there have been over 100 trades...and I don't want to fool with that so I do a fantasy draft.

oh, so you try to keep the players on the same teams as in real life? interesting. i've never seen anyone do that.

I thought everyone did that. I like it to be as realistic as possible.

i've never done that. i start my franchise, and do a fantasy draft from the beginning. and i leave it for the whole season, unless i need to make a trade or pickup a free agent.

BTW, has anyone seen reliever Tom Martin on this game. Trying to add him to the Braves 'pen and I can't find him to save my life. :bang:

- techfan4 - 04-01-2005 02:44 PM

He did play for the Dodgers...correct?

- JoltinJacket - 04-01-2005 02:44 PM

Tim Hudson is a stud on this game. Last night, he threw a 1 hit shutout (only hit was to friggin' Dave Berg) and K'ed 15. 04-bow

Yep, I looked on LA's roster and no luck. But he should've already been in the Braves system on this game because we signed him late during last season.

He is on the Braves roster as a black dude named Jake Byrd. Just change his name to Tom Martin, change his skin color, and you're set. He has all of Martin's attributes. Martin is not in the game because he's not in the PA, but they have a fictional player with similar abilities for guys who aren't in the PA. So guys like Barry Bonds, Damian Miller and Cory Lidle are given fake names.

BTW, another cool feature along these lines...if you go to the Mississippi Braves roster there are players who are based on Andy Marte, Jeff Francouer and Brian McCann. You just have to edit their names in, too.
