I love Bishop Allen, yet I don't own one record of theirs. I still can't get into the National.

Right now, I'm doing some work around the house and listening to Dinosaur Jr's Live from the Middle East.

"Dimmer" is prolly my fav off that album. I'm about the same with The National as you are. I'm trying. I know its good, its just not clicking with me yet.

Almost forgot Bishop Allen had a new record out. Broken String has gotten the most press and favorite of my friends, but Charm School has been the subject of many mix tapes I've made for girls and also a personal favorite. How's Grrrr...?

On the National, it took me awhile (even though they are hometown boys). I was down at my pops one June evening to check out Bonnie "Prince" Billy in Louisville and that fell threw. I was gonna be there a few more days and wanted to see a show. The National was playing at Headliners. Checked it out and have been a fan ever since. Dramatic, haunting, exciting. Saw them three or four days later back home in Cincinnati. The opening opening band, Talkdemonic (who freaking rock) informed me that I caught the bookends of their (National) Bonnaroo stint. That was pretty neat. Alligator is the album to listen to. So many great songs. My favorites are "All the Wine" and "Abel." I know it's cliche, but it's a band you might have to see live to appreciate.
