- niuguy - 11-18-2005 07:13 PM Ok this is all getting freaking insane. My fellow democrats are starting to go crazy and demand withdrawl and the administration won't do what has to be done to finish the job. We need to send every man we can. I understand you can't send the entire armed forces because we thats just a bad idea....but look. Overwhelming the nation with american forces (think germany after ww2) is the only way imho this is going to end. Just more targets? BS. There have been some republicans that have (basically) proposed this but not enough. And democrats instead of paniking need to get mad and say "LETS END THIS *OUR* WAY" Staying the course is NOT working....and withdrawl is NOT the answer. And incase you don't know I leave for Army basic in January as a Cav Scout. ...and i'll be honest, I dont want us to have cut and run by the time I get out. - Ninerfan1 - 11-18-2005 07:24 PM niuguy Wrote:And incase you don't know I leave for Army basic in January as a Cav Scout. ...and i'll be honest, I dont want us to have cut and run by the time I get out. Please accept my heartfelt thanks for being willing to serve your country. He was a star WR from my school (Northern Illinois University) and hes playing for the 49ers....he's hurt atm tho... - Rebel - 11-18-2005 07:46 PM niuguy Wrote:Ok this is all getting freaking insane. Here's a good site for you then: http://forums.military.com/groupee/forums/...frm/f/672198221 I am a veteran and current defense contractor and, from time to time, in "the sandbox". I train the Stryker Brigades, 172d, 1-25th, 3/2ID, and 2CR. Look for anything that says "Murtha" on it. I am Burnsk73. - niuguy - 11-18-2005 07:50 PM I'm allready all over that site. niuguy in the army forums :) That sounds like a interesting job! Do you enjoy it? Edit: i try to stay out of the political forums on that site tho...they tend to be a tad extreme right for me to handle :) - Ninerfan1 - 11-18-2005 07:55 PM niuguy Wrote:Oh, you know who PJ Fleck is? He pulled the troops out while the North Vietnamese were firing on our boys. That’s right we were running while the North was shooting. We lost. It was total surrender. Helicopters were evacuating American forces while the North took over South Vietnam. Do I blame Republican President Nixon? Hell no, and I wouldn’t blame the Democrats if they pull out of this Iraqi sh!t hole either. Democrats sent us into Vietnam for the wrong damn reason, and the Republicans sent us into Iraq for the wrong damn reason. What was the result of the Vietnam war beside a lot of dead people on both sides and a lot of war debt for the tax payers. This war is just another reverse Vietnam….started by the Republicans instead of the Democrats, and will probably be ended by the Democrats instead of the Republicans. All the war mongers should just join up and go get your *** shot off. John Kerry served his country in Vietnam while he thought he was fighting for the right cause, but when he learned it was just a billsh!t cause like this one is, he had the balls to stand up say it was bullsh!t. Say what you want, but Bush and Cheney both hid out in this country like a couple of chicken sh!ts while John Kerry was ducking bullets in Vietnam. - T-Monay820 - 11-19-2005 01:15 PM bronco67 Wrote:John Kerry served his country in Vietnam while he thought he was fighting for the right cause, but when he learned it was just a billsh!t cause like this one is, he had the balls to stand up say it was bullsh!t. Throwing away his medals, condemning the military. We don't need people like him in the Navy. - OptimisticOwl - 11-19-2005 03:09 PM bronco67 Wrote:while John Kerry was ducking bullets in Vietnam.Apparently he was not ducking them very well, getting a Purple Heart about every 5-1/2 weeks. Or maybe he was - were any of his wounds from bullets? As for the rest of your post, there are some similariites there. I wonder if the "domino theory" was lies? Or just the assessment based on the intel available? I think there are a lot of differences between Viet Nam and Iraq, starting with the attitude of the American people. VN would not have been possible without a draft. Most of the older generation had fought in WWII and/or Korea and had no problem in forcing kids from their civilian lives and sending them to VN against their will. That is not happening here. That is just one difference. I am sure that books could be and will be written exploring the similarities and differences between VN and Iraq. - niuguy - 11-19-2005 09:13 PM Are you all incapable of discussing ideas rather than politics? But I suppose it would take a TRUE understanding and passion in the ACTUAL happenings of the world instead of petty ****ing politics. You all should be ashamed...typical amerca. Everyone's **edit** are too far up their parties *** to understand anything. **GrayBeard**removed a word. - GrayBeard - 11-19-2005 10:34 PM niuguy Wrote:Are you all incapable of discussing ideas rather than politics? OK, what are you screaming about? Try to tone the language down just a little in the future. - niuguy - 11-20-2005 12:26 AM What i said was clear. This thread was going no where till somone made a harsh politcaly based statement and then people were all over it. I proposed a topic about what to do in iraq and ne one could even give a decent reply about it. No one here is capable of discussing things without a political context. - OptimisticOwl - 11-20-2005 01:02 PM niuguy Wrote:Ok this is all getting freaking insane. One of the few times we are in agreement. We need more commitment, not less. As for scheduling a date to be gone, that is just idiocy. What do you think would be the stategy of a boxer in a scheduled 12 round match if his opponent announced he was leaving after the seventh round? How about a football game in which one coach said he was pulling all his scholarship players at halftime to avoid injuries, leaving only the walk-ons? I think an exit strategy is ok is it is defined by milestones, like a functioning Iraqi defense force, but not if it is defined by dates on a calendar. - mossmaidi - 11-20-2005 04:36 PM We need to withdraw immediately. - niuguy - 11-20-2005 07:29 PM mossmaidi Wrote:We need to withdraw immediately. How do you feel about the outcome of such an act? Arnt you worried about what would ensue? - JTiger - 11-21-2005 08:51 AM While I think we shouldn't have invaded in the first place, we need to clean up the mess we made. If we are there under the guise of liberation it will surely deteriorate if we were to leave without having a strong government in place. If we leave now, Bush41's nightmare would come true which was a civil war that would further destabilize the region. - uhmump95 - 11-21-2005 10:06 AM I agree with JTiger. We have to be in Iraq for the long haul. I think we have at least another 5 years of work to do with a significant force there. - GrayBeard - 11-21-2005 10:28 AM mossmaidi Wrote:We need to withdraw immediately. That is what the terrorists want us to do. That way, they can have an Afganistan II which we would eventually have to invade all over again. Let's get the job done this time, and do it right! |
