Rough start for ASU's young defense

When it comes to experience, Arkansas State’s defense is about as green as the grass it plays on.
The Indians (0-2) start four redshirt freshmen, one true freshman and a redshirt sophomore who was ineligible his freshman year, giving ASU six starters with almost no experience on the defensive side of the ball.
The results so far this season haven’t been pretty.

The Indians are next-to-last at No. 116 in scoring defense in the latest NCAA statistics, allowing an average of 52.5 points a ballgame through the first two weeks of the season. To ASU’s credit, though, the schedule hasn’t been favorable.
Arkansas State opened the season at then-No. 18 Missouri and last week traveled to No. 5-ranked LSU. Mizzou broke away in the third quarter for a 52-20 victory while LSU stormed to a 53-3 win in Baton Rouge, La.
