PCSA is probably dead - chiefsfan - 11-04-2026 12:27 AM

With tonight's election results the Protect College Sports Act is likely dead unless the Senate passes it during the Lame Duck period.

Typically little work gets done in the Lame Duck session, and a lot of people who had signed on to support the law were voted out of office tonight. Might come up in new congress, but there's zero chance its going to be a priority.

I mean somebody has to do something eventually! Anybody!?

An amendment that needs to take shape with the PCSA is coaching salaries and support staff salaries need to be adjusted to the players salaries. For instance, if the players are limited to 22-23 million HC should only be allowed to make 45% of that amount, assistant coaching pool limited to 35%, and support staff to a set percentage. If players have a limit, you have to limit all your workers. I believe this will slow down coaching movement and give the schools back the power negotiations with these crazy buy-outs. If everyone wants regulation let's regulate!

That's what the Romans thought at the walls of Constantinople in 1453

Dead in its current form. This was a place of bipartisan effort so I expect that to remain into the new year. With the Congressional Black Caucus with more power, expect their issues with the bill to take center stage. FLSA provisions and HBCU support. Both good things.

Yeah, nothing necessarily wrong with that. But its going to have to come up again in a new form. My concern is that its probably not going to be a Dem legislative priority. They will probably work on other issues first. So it might be fall of 27 before we see anything.

And with all the ACC teams out there right now the only one worth a P2 invite is Miami. B1G though will probably refrain from expanding because of the optics when they are trying to get legislation passed.
