Journalist Forcibly Dragged Out from Portland Thorns Game for Wearing XX-XY Athletics - CrimsonPhantom - 10-24-2026 12:08 PM

Quote:Another outrageous confrontation over free expression has erupted in women’s professional sports, and this time, independent journalist Brandi Kruse says she was physically removed from a Portland Thorns soccer game simply for wearing a shirt supporting sex-based protections in women’s athletics.

Kruse, host of the independent political commentary program unDivided, was escorted out of Providence Park in Portland, Oregon, on Friday night, October 23, during a National Women’s Soccer League match between the Portland Thorns FC and North Carolina Courage.

Her offense was wearing a T-shirt from XX-XY Athletics, a sportswear company founded by former Levi’s executive Jennifer Sey that advocates preserving female athletic categories based on biological sex.

Kruse said she and other supporters peacefully wore their shirts before being confronted and assaulted by opposing fans. Yet, according to her account, stadium security ultimately removed her group rather than the individuals she accused of attacking them.

In a post on X, Kruse wrote:

I was just forcefully removed from a @ThornsFC game for the crime of wearing an @xx_xyathletics t-shirt. I am in shock. We peacefully wore our shirts. We were assaulted by fans. Then WE were forced to leave – with FORCE by stadium security. I am utterly in shock.

Videos subsequently shared by Kruse show security personnel physically escorting her through the stadium seating area.

WATCH:

According to the Lynnwood Times, one security officer restrained Kruse’s arm behind her back before another joined in removing her from the venue.

The footage reportedly shows the two security officers lifting Kruse as they continued taking her out of the stadium.

Kruse protested the removal, repeatedly maintaining that she had done nothing wrong.

The journalist later highlighted what she described as an astonishing double standard in how stadium officials treated fans with competing political messages.

In a second post on X, Kruse wrote:

These are the shirts allowed for the @ThornsFC fans. None of them were removed. They have chants about burning people alive. Fans assaulted multiple people wearing @xx_xyathletics shirts. None of them were removed. I am quite literally in shock.

Additionally, some Thorns fans allegedly assaulted women who were part of Kruse’s group.

This is not the first time Portland Thorns fans wearing XX-XY Athletics merchandise have been removed from Providence Park.

On September 6, eight spectators wearing the brand’s apparel were escorted from a Thorns match against the Washington Spirit.

At the time, the Portland Thorns claimed the individuals were removed for distributing unapproved materials in violation of stadium guidelines.

The group disputed that explanation.

Amy Sousa, one of the spectators removed from the September match, insisted that members of her group had not distributed promotional materials and accused stadium officials of targeting their political beliefs.

Following that confrontation, the group also encountered opposition at The Sports Bra, a Portland establishment dedicated to women’s sports, where staff asked them to conceal the messages on their clothing or leave.

The bar defended its decision, arguing that messages opposing transgender inclusion in women’s athletic categories conflicted with its commitment to inclusion.

The left can’t even have their ideology challenged without throwing a massive kid-like temper tantrum.

UPDATE: US DOJ Is Reviewing Forceful Ejection of Brandi Kruse and Fans Wearing XX-XY Shirts at Friday’s Portland Thorns Female Soccer Game

Quote:On Saturday morning, FOX News reporter Jackson Thompson reported that the US Department of Justice is reviewing Brandi's forceful removal from the Thorn's game for wearing an XX-XY shirt.

The shirt is a symbol for Americans who refuse to accept biological male athletes into female sports.

For the record, the International Olympic Committee also will NOT allow biological males to compete against women.

It's common sense.

Jackson Thompson reported on X:

"The Justice Department is aware of these reports and will review the matter thoroughly. Where the facts and the law warrant action, the Department will not hesitate to act."

A DOJ spokesperson also told me, "Based on what is known so far, the conduct described appears to raise viewpoint discrimination and First Amendment questions rather than sex discrimination. The Department is reviewing it."

This is what rational people are facing.

I have to wonder if Brandi Kruse wore the shirt actually hoping to be expelled from the facility. Might have been calculated — kind of like this Wall Street Journal African-American finance reporter Dion Rabouin dressing like a homeless black man so as to be harrassed/arrested and, as such, bring positive attention to his cause.

I don't trust Rabouin (he did the journalism trade a disservice) and I'm not so sure I trust Kruse (would have to read more about her).

What is your point?

That people who deliberately exercise their rights deserve to be mistreated?

I wonder what would happen if someone wore a Trump supporter gear? Would it have mattered

Mental illness. No other explanation. I said it before.

These people are getting away with this BS behavior b/c those in power allow it.

Billy, why don't you stop trying to assign purpose to these situations (which you don't know), and simply assess the situation at face value? There is nothing inherently wrong, or illegal, with wearing that shirt in public.

The expulsion of Kruse was unjustified and politically driven. It was a joke and I condemn it. Freedom of expression provides her a right to wear the shirt. I support her overall. And, as you might know, I strongly oppose trans men competing in contact women's sports.

My point: People will do things for ulterior political motives, thus minimizing the sincerity and naturalness of their actions. That might have been the case here. I don't know. I'm just wondering if so. Do you not wonder if the black man in the case I reference did what he did for ulterior political reasons? I think he might have.

I agree, T-A. See my response to bullet.

And I did not argue that Kruse wore the shirt actually hoping to be expelled from the facility. I simply wonder if she did. Big difference.

It's Portland.

What did anyone honestly expect was going to happen?
