Troops are being repositioned away from the remaining inhabited bases in the region, and diplomats are being evacuated from certain countries, such as Saudi Arabia where Houthi strikes are ongoing, as well.

So either we intend to restart strikes on Iran---or we fear Iran might hit those bases preemptively to make restarting strikes more difficult---or we are making the move as part of a bluff to kick start negotiations. Other than maintaining the blockade and providing some sort of defense in the southern Omani route out of the Gulf----of late, we've done nothing in response to larger and larger barrages by Iran and their proxies on shipping and land targets in the area. Supposedly, we will make no move until after the mid-terms----but Im not sure standing with our hands in our pockets while Iran causes gas prices to rise is a better election strategy than taking action sooner rather than later.

Seems prudent to remove citizens from possible harm's way.
