World Cup 2026 - VA49er - 06-12-2026 01:41 PM With the World Cup kicking off, on American soil, I figured I'd start a thread for anyone interested-whether you follow soccer or just like big international events. The US kicks off tonight against Paraguay. Have at it! RE: World Cup 2026 - CrimsonPhantom - 06-12-2026 01:57 PM These articles are about Freddy, who is from Germany and traveling across the country for the World Cup. Here's his twitter: https://x.com/FreddyLA7 Europeans Fall in Love With America While Touring the Country; Americans Need to Take Lessons Freddy the German Tourist Has Some Surprising Experiences As His Journey Across America Continues RE: World Cup 2026 - Redwingtom - 06-12-2026 01:57 PM I watched the games yesterday...not a huge soccer fan, but they were entertaining. I had forgotten how much those guys embellish contact...I think it's even worse than before. Central and South American and Southern and Eastern Europe are the worst. There’s great videos of Neymar’s dives over the years. They are *supposed* to be cautioned for embellishment RE: World Cup 2026 - CrimsonPhantom - 06-12-2026 02:00 PM RE: World Cup 2026 - CrimsonPhantom - 06-12-2026 02:06 PM (06-12-2026 01:59 PM)ballantyneapp Wrote:(06-12-2026 01:57 PM)Redwingtom Wrote: I watched the games yesterday...not a huge soccer fan, but they were entertaining. RE: World Cup 2026 - MemTigers1998 - 06-12-2026 02:35 PM So a Somalian referee and an Iranian staff member were not allowed entry into the USA due to being flagged with ties to terrorist groups. A Canadian politician started virtue signaling saying how they’d be welcomed into Canada. Had no more finished running his mouth when it was announced a player from Ghana would miss his first match in Canada due to visa issues involving a rape charge in England. So it’s ok for Canada to keep criminals out, but the US should allow terrorists in #LibLogic RE: World Cup 2026 - Bronco'14 - 06-12-2026 05:45 PM I always say I'm going to watch it but never do. I'd like to. It may help it's on this side of the world. RE: World Cup 2026 - shere khan - 06-12-2026 05:52 PM Soccer....Thats nice dear. The only thing that soccer posts do is make me miss fsquid that big spccer nerd. RE: World Cup 2026 - Native Georgian - 06-12-2026 08:36 PM I’m not watching but was trapped into being at a place where US/Paraguay is on all the flatscreens. When did soccer begin using “hydration breaks”?!?!? RE: World Cup 2026 - CrimsonPhantom - 06-12-2026 08:44 PM Feel-Good Friday: Foreign World Cup Fans Remind Us There's No Place Like America - We Should Be Proud RE: World Cup 2026 - TripleA - 06-12-2026 09:05 PM You guys are such crybabies. Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. By far. You dudes are behind the times. I played soccer in college. In the 1960s. USA is off to a good start. Up 3-0 on Paraguay at the half. In soccer, that is a total blowout. Of course, the WC schedulers gave us a big break with our original Group (D), so we could be assured to get out to the next round. RE: World Cup 2026 - CardinalJim - 06-12-2026 09:47 PM European football is often called “The Beautiful Game” . If you watch enough of it, you’ll fall in love. Try to not just watch the ball but watch how players without the ball move on the pitch. RE: World Cup 2026 - Eagleaidaholic - 06-12-2026 10:01 PM My son played soccer in intramural last year at college. He played defensive end in football, was a hatchet man in basketball and was the catcher in baseball. Needless to say he likes contact. When he realized he could kick the pshit out of the lawn ferries as long as he was trying to kick the ball it was over. He said everyone would pass the ball when he would run near them. Him and his buddies scrimmaged against the OS lacrosse team one night when he was in high school. Needless to say, they weren't asked back. Holy terror. The little spoiled rich kids just think they're tough till the hammer hits him. If the US didn't have football, baseball and basketball we would dominate soccer AND hockey. Imagine Bo Jackson, Barry Sanders, Charles Barkley, Michael Vick and Deion Sanders on the same soccer field with Shaquille O'Neal in the net. RE: World Cup 2026 - Frank Grimes - 06-12-2026 11:32 PM Might have been the best performance from us in the World Cup, at least in my lifetime. Gives me some real hope for getting to the quarterfinals. RE: World Cup 2026 - PlainTiger - 06-12-2026 11:38 PM I like soccer ok but I’d like it much better if the players played like men instead of like pansies, constantly whining they are hurt. That’s just un-American. That’s just un-American. Well, soccer wasn't invented in America, lol. They do the fake injuries to try to get penalties called on the other team. It rarely works. Great for ticket sales. |
