Took place in the hotel but outside the ballroom where everyone is gathered tonight.
Suspect is now in custody.
Shots, perhaps 6, likely fired from the lighting box above the door in the lobby.
When shots were fired, everyone ducked under their tables. President and First Lady were evacuated.
New report says Trump will return and the event will go on. Conflicting report was incorrect. Apparently they are still deciding when to restart.

Glad to read the event will continue, per Fox, although I do not blame attendees for leaving. I surmise Trump wants to return, but for the safety of others he may be told to stay away.

The video I watched, you heard the shots, but no one was thinking it was anything. The a few seconds later they evacuated the President and had all duck.

Night has now officially been cancelled. Will be rescheduled at a later date.
Trump will hold a presser at the WH in about 30 minutes or so.

Wolf Blitzer was 5 feet from the shooter and said the shooter was in the secure area and he started hearing the shooting and a police officer took Blitzer down and stayed on top of him until the shooting stopped. Blitzer was all red in the face. Probably needs to go home or to a doctor. Now it may be the shooter ran through the magnometer and got stopped as opposed to getting through without detection.
Nobody is hurt, although a police officer apparently got hit in his vest. Shooter is in custody. Unclear what condition he is in.
