OT: What is Tulane thinking? - Troy_Fan_15 - 12-08-2025 09:33 AM

Pete Thamel is reporting that Will Hall will be the next HC at Tulane. They had 2 good coaches in a row and now…

Maybe it’ll work for him a second time as HC but this seems like the end of their run as a top end G6 program.

Eh.. If Tulane loses and nobody's in the stands, does anyone care?

Now that I got my Tulane hate out.. I can't believe he's being promoted, but maybe he'll do more there than he did at USM.

With NIL, unfortunately, and it pains me to say this, Tulane does have some high rollers, higher that USM, and he can probably go after talent.

If he wins or fall flat on his face, doesn't matter... But I hate Tulane enough from CUSA I hope they end up in the basement.

Oh damn

That doesn't make any sense at all. Maybe Hall figures it out at Tulane, but he hasn't shown anything that would give me the warm fuzzies over this hire.

That is the most loltastic hire that I’ve ever heard. Dude was terrible at USM.

Tulane boards are melting down. They know this is a huge step backwards. “Regression to the historical mean” is one phrase I saw.

Oh, well. Was fun while it lasted.

Maybe he figures it out this time but he looks way more competent/effective as a coordinator than a head coach.

Just so many options for a head coach out there and they're going with him... it's kind of absurd.

You will hear talk about Tulane's resources and how USM didn't provide him the tools to work with. At his introductory press conference in 2020, he said the following, per WDAM.com:

“No more excuses,” Hall said. “We’ve got all the resources here to be special. We’ve got everything we need to get back to being the best football-playing Group of Five school in the United States of America. But, guys, we’ve got to band together."

Good luck with that, Wave.

Wow. I did not anticipate Tulane taking that route. Was no one else available? I thought they were on the verge of hiring the LSU DC?

He doesn't have the killer instinct to be a great head coach.

App tried this, didn't work out.

What a bunch of dumb-dumbs. It's not worth having one smooth off-season.

RE: OT: What is Tulane thinking? - TroyFootball05 - 12-08-2025 10:19 AM

Usually this type of move is made when you've blown your load on your previous coach and you need to make a budget hire and save for the next guy who is going to be the one you invest in. But Tulane shouldn't have that problem. I wonder if the governor has his greasy fingers on Tulane the way the BOT does with UAB...

I have no idea what Tulane is thinking but I find it hilarious.

He's being retained at LSU.. He's making about $4 mil there.

Tulane is taking out their own legs. I still don’t believe it.

RE: OT: What is Tulane thinking? - SkullyMaroo - 12-08-2025 11:55 AM

Back when Tulane was still in the SEC they wanted to deemphasize athletics. They reduced scholarships and became uncompetitive and left the SEC in 1966. And then today they hired Will Hall, which would feel like a punch to the gut if I was a Tulane fan. Maybe he’ll do better at Tulane, but after their last two hires this is surprising.

So did we. We're still "trying it".

It ain't working out.

RE: OT: What is Tulane thinking? - CardinalBlackTrojan - 12-08-2025 12:01 PM

Maybe the NIL dollars will help Will Hall... but he's certainly no Jon Sumrall. He doesn't have the same ability to rah-rah the team together and emphasize smash-mouth, physical football like Sumrall could.

Not sure he has many friends, but somebody ought to check on that guy thewavefan.
