The current VA governor is Republican. His MAGA Lt Gov is so crazy not even Trump will endorse her.
If voters really think the Dems are responsible for the shutdown you think they would vote for them? Especially in northern VA you a lot of those federal workers live. Your mental gymnastics are Simone Biles worthy.

The Democrats are to blame for the shutdown, and it's all to appease an increasingly unhinged leftist socialist faction that has overthrown the more somewhat reasonable majority of the party. The two VA Senators are both Dems. The US congressmen are 6-5 Dems. I'd say VA is at least purple, and the other two are deep blue.
So what's your point? Mine is still the same. NJ and NYC will almost certainly go Dem, and I imagine VA will as well, although it will be closer.

Regarding owning the shutdown, the Dems can end it at anytime. The Repubs have voted to end it at least 13 times so far. People that say the Repubs control the Senate are either ignorant or blatantly lying to people given the 70 requried votes. Why people are too ignorant to believe the "control" argument I'll never understand.

I really didn't know much about her until a few weeks ago. Since, I have heard her interviews maybe half a dozen times, and nothing she said seemed the least bit crazy to me.

I have no idea at all how the election will turn out tonight. But if the Dems come away feeling as if they have done well (however you want to define that), then it is a guarantee that you will have more shutdowns — more frequently and going unresolved for longer periods of time — in the future. I admit I would have mixed feelings about that, if it happened.
