2025 football attendance - FoUTASportscaster - 09-01-2025 12:20 PM Only two games played in UAC stadiums through week 0 and 1. Southern Utah vs Idaho State (W) 5,137 Utah Tech vs UC-Davis (L) 4,629 RE: 2025 football attendance - DodgeHouse - 09-01-2025 01:52 PM UTA would have had 40k of course. They are not our peers. RE: 2025 football attendance - DodgeHouse - 09-01-2025 02:13 PM Probably really sucks to watch RGV start football. And double sucks to know that UTPB will move to D1 football before UTA gets even considered by the Mothership. But hey, you guys are above the rest of us. You guys are Harvard on Rush Creek. You’ll be just fine in a Conference of less than Peers. You will dominate everything. RE: 2025 football attendance - FoUTASportscaster - 09-01-2025 10:54 PM Yeah, I'm confused where the hate is coming from. Short answer was UTSA, UNT, Texas State, the SBC West, were our peers for decades. We passed John Tarleton in 1959 and destroyed them in 1966 and '67. We've regressed in athletic stature to the 1960's and '50's. It is what it is. And yes, we are not happy that UTRGV can figure it out. Doesn't mean I'm not happy for them. Doesn't mean I don't root for the WAC/UAC lineup. Happy for TSU this weekend. Also doesn't change the fact that UTA is a SBC/AAC/Pac # team with the sport and our academic rep. Multiple things can be true at once. RE: 2025 football attendance - BlueDragon - 09-02-2025 09:22 AM (09-01-2025 10:54 PM)FoUTASportscaster Wrote: Yeah, I'm confused where the hate is coming from. You live in yesteryear longing for something to return that shows no signs presently of returning like a stunningly beautiful woman who left you and you sit around waiting for her to discover her mistake and return. Living in the past doesn't get you to where you are going in the future. Instead of lamenting you should be thankful there is a conference where you are wanted like the girl next door who accepts you for who you really are at the present. Hope this helps you get a picture. Sour grapes never was a good look. I sometimes wish we could trade presidents with TSU, or any of the other schools that demonstrate vision and ambition regarding athletics. Our ire is directed at our institution and our institution alone. If the irrational of yall pulled your heads out your butts for just a little bit, you’ll see I praised the athletic director and the actions of those in the UAC for keeping the Texas 3 together for geographic rivalries. Later I pointed out that Tarleton is about to pass us by too when they inevitably go FBS. Two things can be true at the same time. It’s our fault and ours alone. Sorry that West Georgia and North Alabama don’t appeal to us the way North Texas or Texas State did. TSU has done good things in a short time. I’d argue a near $40 per credit hour student fee is excessive, but that’s not my lane in the grand scheme. You are filling your stadium and slowly increasing your competitiveness among many sports. What do you care what our feelings are about the decisions our U has made/continues to make? Do yall go the the SEC board and chastise Vanderbilt fans when they lament their overall performance and suggest Tarleton would do better in the same spot? Bad attendance news: Since that's the stadium capacity it can only get worse from here. In reading a lot of news surrounding the program, it has reinvigorated the university and the fan base. Maybe coming to the UAC could be in your future. You will always be welcome. Didn't think students were even awake at 8am. And it could be the first time in the entire 98-year history of the university that people were paying more than face value for tickets. It really helped that they put a guy from the RGV in as the starting quarterback and then he delivered. Secret confession: I was honestly worried we'd get blown out by Sul Ross State. The win doesn't prove much but at least it looks like we'll avoid complete laughingstock territory. RE: 2025 football attendance - FoUTASportscaster - 09-02-2025 10:29 PM Capacity is one thing. Even if you average 8,000, UTRGV will be top half of FCS. RE: 2025 football attendance - runamuck - 09-03-2025 08:22 AM (09-02-2025 10:29 PM)FoUTASportscaster Wrote: Capacity is one thing. I'm glad for them. folks in that area have been wanting something like this for a long time. they could build a great rivalry with A&I..woops A&M kingsville. I think UTRGV will keep investing in their athletics and facilities. RE: 2025 football attendance - RCI - 09-03-2025 02:33 PM Agree. You guys should come home to the new UAC and join the Texas Three to make the Texas four. RE: 2025 football attendance - FoUTASportscaster - 09-07-2025 01:35 PM SFA @ ACU = 8,042 MVSU @ TSU = 21,330 UAPB @ UCA = 9,279 HCU @ EKU = 5,193 RE: 2025 football attendance - DodgeHouse - 09-08-2025 04:08 PM Tarleton had 18k. Maybe they count student tickets that didn’t show up. UCA had less than 8k according to some trusted folks. They are expecting 12 for Tarleton this week. 10k is reasonable. UCA sucks, so that may eat into the 12k. RE: 2025 football attendance - DodgeHouse - 09-08-2025 04:21 PM Tarleton had 18k. Maybe they count student tickets that didn’t show up. RE: 2025 football attendance - RCI - 09-08-2025 09:01 PM As best as I could judge, SFA had about 20 people at the game. At least that was the approximate number that cheered when the Lumberjacks scored early. It also looked like some left early when it was 28 to 14 five minutes before the game ended. ACU and SFA have been competitors for years, intensely so. |
