SEC moves to 9-game conference schedule - Gitanole - 08-22-2025 01:22 PM The SEC in 2026 will move to a 9-game conference schedule for football. Schools expect to see a bump of at least $5M annually in revenues. SEC schools will also be required to schedule at least one more A4 game a year out of conference. As the B1G Ten already plays a 9-game conference schedule, the symmetry eases creation of metrics for CFP rankings. Proposals for both open and multiple-AQ CFP playoff formats also become more workable. The ACC is expected soon to follow suit, though its current football member count (17) raises questions about scheduling.
