Yeah, I was gonna say…why the hell dont you make such a hire 2 years ago? RE: New DC - UABFRENCHY - 12-13-2024 09:17 PM now we need an experience oc who WILL hire his own staff and we will be good to go :) RE: New DC - UAB Band Dad - 12-13-2024 09:19 PM I think that if that was going to happen it would have been announced by now. Besides, Dilfer will need someone to throw to the wolves at the end of next season. And at worst, should have been forced after last season’s debacle. RE: New DC - bftb - 12-13-2024 10:52 PM Nice to hear some good news for a change. We see the results that we got. Its good to finally see an experienced coordinator is on staff, but this may be too little too late. The offense was pretty bad most games last year, so even a dramatic defensive improvement, we will be lucky to win a handful of games. I agree with a lot of you that Russ could probably serve as an interim during a transition, and wonder if not having a suitable replacement factored into retaining Dilfer for another year as other schools fired their head coaches mid-season. It sucks that the cupboard will be bare and the next coach will have a complete rebuild. Hopefully there will be some good candidates available in the next cycle. RE: New DC - blazr - 12-14-2024 06:45 PM It won't make one millimeter of difference when he's coaching FCS-level players and high school recruits from Deadhorse, AK. There were some internal thoughts that he might have been the new DC if it had been an internal hire. Kind of look for him to be an anchor for the defensive staff. RE: New DC - Rell - 12-17-2024 01:38 PM DC hire- ex NFL coach WR hire- ex NFL coach Looking forward to the DL and LB hires having NFL ties. Miles college has an ex NFL LB position coach. |
