...with RichRod most likely headed to WVU... - GreenFreakUAB - 12-10-2024 09:09 AM ...y'all know where this is going... BC is already 'on campus' at JSU, so... would be an easy transition... thoughts? RE: ...with RichRod most likely headed to WVU... - JxGx78 - 12-10-2024 09:36 AM I’m seeing Jeff Monken’s name getting mentioned also for the WV job. RE: ...with RichRod most likely headed to WVU... - UAB Band Dad - 12-10-2024 12:55 PM That's the two main choices. RichRod is being pushed by some of the big money boosters, AD does not sound wild about the idea. Monken also mentioned at UNC if they can't land Belachick. RE: ...with RichRod most likely headed to WVU... - ATTALLABLAZE - 12-12-2024 09:55 AM I have a feeling Bill is not going to end up as JSU's HC. I could be wrong. I can see Bill sticking it out one more year if the right thing doesn't come along. Bill has already out priced them with his salary as well unless he wants to work for less. RE: ...with RichRod most likely headed to WVU... - Auburn_Blazer - 12-12-2024 10:29 AM If Bill doesn't get hired at Jax St I'm not sure if he's going to coach again. Tulsa, ECU, So Miss, Rice & Troy all interviewed him and passed, I'm not sure what else he'd be up for...maybe is Georgia Southern opens next year? Or Troy opens in a year or two? RE: ...with RichRod most likely headed to WVU... - BeliefBlazer - 12-12-2024 11:14 AM Oh I expect he’ll be on the sidelines of Burgess Snow next season. If he works for less, would that negatively affect his pension from the state? If you are a retired state employee, you can work (essentially part time) for a state agency and still draw your full retirement as long as you don't make more than about $35,000 per year (I think I'm reasonably close on that number). So, unless he's going to practically work for free, his RSA checks will stop. Now, if he were to coach for a private school or a school in another state, he can make as much as he wants and still draw full RSA check. That's why I don't see him coaching in Alabama anymore. RE: ...with RichRod most likely headed to WVU... - blazers9911 - 12-12-2024 01:04 PM You have to be 60 to draw those benefits to begin with though, right? RE: ...with RichRod most likely headed to WVU... - legalblazer - 12-12-2024 01:18 PM My question was more directed at whether there was a calculation where your pension is based on an average of your last 3-4 years of salary (or something similar). If so, they'd have to at least match UAB's average and if there is an inflation component to the calculation, more than that (for him not to take a long term pension hit). If there is an Athletic Foundation that pays for the salary that shouldn't affect his retirement, correct? Not if you're Tier 1, the old system. Which he is. In Tier 1 you can retire and fully draw after 25 years of service, regardless of age. They did away with that about ten years ago, but if you were in Tier 1 at the time you were grandfathered. A lady I worked with who started with the State right out of high school retired at like 45. It would depend on who was technically his employer, whose name is on the top of his paycheck. I guess in theory he could be employed by some foundation, who donated him to the service of the school. But then you get into whether the school would want to, or even could, have a non-employee running a department of the school. I could forsee all sorts of issues there. RE: ...with RichRod most likely headed to WVU... - UABFAN23 - 12-12-2024 03:20 PM 2-3 good years at Jax state and AU will be open in the same window. Nows the time for him to make his move. Could go 12-0 with Jax states schedule next year. RE: ...with RichRod most likely headed to WVU... - ATTALLABLAZE - 12-12-2024 04:46 PM The more I hear it won't be Bill to JSU. I could be wrong as things can change. RE: ...with RichRod most likely headed to WVU... - AssKickingChicken - 12-13-2024 12:54 PM Jax State fan here. There are some that want him back and some are mad about him leaving before. I wasn’t really bothered by his departure as all coaches are looking for a better gig and more money at a higher level. I wouldn’t be upset if he did return but I would prefer someone else. I really don’t have a name as there are plenty who would do well. RichRod wasn’t even expected three years ago but he was who we needed to get us through the transition. RE: ...with RichRod most likely headed to WVU... - UABFAN23 - 12-13-2024 01:15 PM If you don’t want Bill Clark and he is found to be interested, the jokes on you. I’ll say no more. RE: ...with RichRod most likely headed to WVU... - AssKickingChicken - 12-13-2024 01:18 PM There are other coaches out there besides Bill Clark. |
