RE: EMU Fires English
EMU is bad and will always be bad unless they could get a big name coach like Ohio has with Solich. Anyone else who takes that job will never be successful, unless they drop down to FCS.

Disagree. English was a big name coach but is way too old school with his schemes and does a poor job of developing talent. He actually recruited reasonably well but sucked at the on-field stuff.

EMU needs a guy with experience building a winner. Does not matter what level. Football is football.

RE: EMU Fires English
EMU can increase their attendance, invest in facilities, increase budgets, etc., but I think what it will come down to is whether or not they can either hire a coach who built up their DII/FCS team, or catch lightning in a bottle with a young, talented assistant. I think anyone who wins at EMU will bolt after he gets them to a bowl, and at that point it is imperative that they make a good hire to continue the success (see: NIU).

I think they realized "Oh crap we could get a win vs WMU", it would make it harder to fire him. Now a very winnable game vs WMU could look like it had to do with the coaching change.

I have the exact same thoughts.

I go into my thoughts on the EMU forum.

I think English p*ssed off the powers to be.

Sounds like something from the days of George Steinbrenner and Billy Martin with the N.Y. Yankees.

I don't see that happening. EMU is a no win situation for FBS football.

I would second that. EMU is probably the worst job in all of FBS. With CMU and WMU still on the schedule and both very winnable games, why let him go now.

Good. This will force Heeke's hand at CMU. HURONators, you might want to look at Anus Enos.

Let's say the MAC had SIU or Indiana State instead of EMU.....Does anyone still believe they would be as hopeless as they are now?

Thats a really tall charge you are throwing out there. If for some reason that is found out to be true, then not only is the School is not committed to win, but the NCAA would have to step in and do something because that is a major PR nightmare for them.

It could be that Parrish is on their short list... This way they get to give him a few games.
