If ,and this is no longer a large if, FAU wins out and they are bowl eligible do they have a shot at a bowl? 6-6 is not a great record and we have beaten nobody of note except perhaps Tulane.

I've been thinking about this as well. There are not going to be many at large slots open (77-80 teams bowl eligible), and considering the ACC might have a few extra teams this year, there might not be an extra slot available for a 7th bowl eligible CUSA team.

The only advantage FAU has is proximity to the Beef O Brady's bowl in St Petersburg. Would that bowl want a 6-6 FAU enough to leave an 8-4 MT team sitting at home? Would the conference office let that happen? Not sure.

Don't think so. 8-4 would certainly trump 6-6 with the conference office along with conference standings.

CBS has Rice playing Notre Dame in Dallas, which means we would end this season with the Fighting Irish in Texas, and open the 2014 season with a rematch in South Bend.

How real is Notre Dame to Dallas? That would be a great opponent for C-USA to land in a bowl. Great for the conference.

Notre Dame as the Hear of Dallas opponent, be it Rice, NT or whatever CUSA team, would probably assure a sellout ! Let's hope the Irish come to Dallas.

How does NT help sell out this game if they can't even fill their own stadium? Also, would be shocked if Notre Dame plays North Texas in this bowl game. Notre Dame will have its pick of bowls and opponents once the top teams are picked for the top bowls.

Firstly, we won't be playing some spare school such as one from the AAC; secondly, we once took 17,000 to New Orleans for a Tuesday night bowl game (multiply that by at least 2 X's for a local bowl with freakin' Notre Dame as the opponent for crissakes') and thirdly, we are in the beginnings of a Mean Green football renaissance, ie, back to our winning ways with a real HFC that had on his resume when we hired him 3 yrs ago over a decade with HFC'ing experience at a Big 12 football program--a hiring philosophy that North Texas got away from for over 30 years and one that I hope we won't suddenly forget when Coach McCarney moves on or retires in the sweet by and by. .

That pretty well cover it for you?

Got it especially the renaissance part.

I'm new to this. Have ECU fans always been so elitist? If not for the line stating who they root for I'd swear they were from Mockingbird Lane.

Like most fan bases, many of the ECU posters are nice level headed people, but there are a few that look down their nose at other programs.

North Texas has over 35,000 students and 100,000 alum living in the Dallas/Fort Worth, region. We should have a better crowd on Saturday for homecoming, then we did for the Thursday night Rice game. Notre Dame would probably love to play in DFW. They need to play where potential recruits can see them. The HOD is played in the Cotton Bowl, one of the most storied college football venues in the country. I could see Notre Dame taking this bowl. And, if they do, I'm almost positive the game would sell out. Not saying UNT would bring half the fans, but more then most people would think. For a bowl game against Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl, on New Years Day, I could see North Texas bringing 35 to 40 thousand fans to the game. Probably 50 thousand would be there to see Notre Dame.

I'd love to win the C-USA Championship Game and play this game instead of the Liberty Bowl.

Because it's unethical.

Otherwise, he's no different the Karl (I Where Shades) Benson. I would like to think that BB is not as slimy until proven differently.

But looking at this SB line-up I guess they think we're going to be snubbed of a bowl again this even with bowl ties.

I saw that too. I don't know why they think we won't fill our spots. I think we will need to find another bowl or 2 somewhere.

My guess is that if notre dame heads to the heart of Dallas bowl they'll get to choose their opponent.

And more than likely it won't be Rice with them opening with them in 2014. I would be shocked to see ND wanting to play the same opponent like that, just due to the novelty factor. If the game is close, I could see it helping, but if it was not it would probably hurt the overall.

I do not understand where this is coming from?? I do not see anything elitist about any posts on this topic. The statement about Notre Dame not playing UNT in a bowl game is just fact....The same could be said for any CUSA school. Notre Dame would sit out of a bowl game (which they have done in the past) before they would play a CUSA school in a no name bowl game....So just relax a little.

Also in regards to CUSA shafting ECU in bowl assignments I do not think it would happen...CUSA and BB have been pretty fair to schools exiting the league over the last few years.

I know, it's a bit odd to see many NT fans post on here like its Christmas. You have won 6 games in the worst conference in college football. Relax, you guys will get to a bowl game this year. You will find that unless you go to the Liberty Bowl, the rest of the bowls are good only for the extra practice the teams get because of them.

I think both UNT and UTSA will turn out to be good additions for football.

I do think UNT has more potential across all sports though.

ECU posters......questioning why so many UNT posters post here (pssst, they are in CUSA). Then you guys take the time to rip CUSA.....I really wish y'all would take your thought and opinions to the AAC board. But wait, since y'all still part of CUSA we still have to take your BS right?

Good thing it's not up to C-USA. They have little say in the selection. If we are not the Champs, the military bowl won't be able to get out of their chairs fast enough to invite us. The last time we played there we sold 17,500 tickets with 6-6 record.
