Didnt NIU announce 27K vs Toledo on that Tuesday night in 04...what has changed to the stadium that capacity is now only 24 or 23,500?

That's one of the big mysteries on campus. The incredible shrinking capacity. 30K, 28K, 27K, 24K..... pick a number.

Before Frazier leaves, I want him to count the seats...

I suspect the construction of the Yordon Center wiped out end zone seats.

No, 2 years ago it was 7-3 NIU vs 6-4 Ball State. Neither team probably had top 25 votes, neither team was coming off the Orange bowl. And the non-Homecoming Saturday games drew 17k, 14k, and 14k ... 12k wasn't a bad turnout for that year's attendance trend for a mediocre game.

That was 27k, we were announced at 28 k several times back in those days. Huskie Stadium was rocking that night, that is the kind of atmosphere we will have for Ball State.

Endzone seats were not used since before 99.

It send the opening of the Yordon in 07 made the fire marshal look at the stadium capasity closer some time after the SIU game. That game should have been classified a sellout as it had over 24k and was the exact configuration other than the new Aux press box.

Last year our second best attendance of the year came on a November weeknight against Toledo ... 18k. That was 8-2 Toledo at 9-1 NIU. Toledo had been ranked in the top 25 at 8-1, but had lost to Ball State the previous week. The other Saturday home games drew 16k, 18k, 16k, 14k, and 11k. And the other 18k game was against an AQ foe, Kansas.

At this rate, within a few more years we'll only be able to fit 5K in our stadium.

That could very well be if we keep filling up on hot dogs.

The only number that matters is having 20+k at every home game. The stands should always be at or near capacity. Wish the Frats and Sororities would plan something big, get whole greek system out there.

But that was the week after the 63-60 game at Toledo AND the win was needed to get back to the MACC. It was a huge game...it was darn cold though! I think it was in the 20s

We could have put 30k in the stands for Homecoming this year. Tickets were sold out an entire week before game-time. No online sales available the week of the game, no walk-ups...

Our stadium needs to be enlarged to 30,500. Add 4k onto the east side and 20 rows of seats in the end-zone.

I wonder if we build a second deck on the East side and put a club level in between if that would be cheaper and could be done quicker than a new skybox on the West side.

until you sell out the entire season expansion is not necessary. we have to get season ticket base way up. Get demand up

what i think they will do is build a new pressbox and maybe 8 suites on the west side. You would build the structure outside the stadium walls, cataleaver it like ND to their stadium expansion. Hvae to gut the inside of the west side to make fan friendly. I would also put a roof extending out from the stadium maybe a 100 ft, gate it and put concessions and washrooms oput there also. Kind of like Batt St

Which is exactly what Frazier is trying to do by making capacity 23,595.

Totally agree a press box and the west side need to be done before anything.

There IS empty space above the two practice gyms right? Could a consession area and more bathrooms be installed in that area? If you move the consessions out of the hallways that would instantly give the two main halls a more open feel.

I talked to a few members at NIU and reno would not be cost effective. It would actually cost more to renovate than to knock down and rebuild. Akron's stadium cost were 61.6 mil. It cost us 9.5 for the CPC. I would say the stadium upgrades adding the temp box on the north end are to last us at least 5 years to even consider stadium changes.

We can dream, but I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon. Wait until there is a Stadium Campaign Fund Drive before dreaming too much. Nothing will happen prior to having a Campaign a couple of years prior to work.

Another BCS trip or MAC Champion Three-Peat might kick Alums into action to contribute more than they normally would, So now would be the time to start a campaign. IMO

We shouldn't wait until later in case there is a drop off in talent in the following years. I think the program is on the rise, but we've had a string of good players and it's hard to hit home runs all the time.

Strike while the iron is hot!
