That is not a good thing though, we are not sneaking up on any pollsters, most will be very cognizant how they vote for NIU.

NIU is in the poll earlier, hard not to be encouraged by that.

NIU was ranked 21st going into the MAC Championship last year. It won't be an issue. Teams will lose, NIU will move up by winning.

I wish I shared your guys optimism and not saying you are wrong but I have my doubts. The only problem is that for every loss, somebody wins. I could easily see scenarios where we pass up a loser and get leap frogged by the winner. Ive said this for some time but its about high time this happens, since we know for a fact the power conferences are juicing up their ballots for their own conferences, MAC coaches need to wake the hell up and show support for their top teams.

There is half the season left. Losses will pile up for teams. Is this your first year watching college football?

Well it is year 1 AH (After Herbstreit). The dynamics changed a lot after last year 7. As much as I hate ESPN they are powerful, what they did to the MAC and NIU during that selection show does have an impact on perception. In addition to that, the depth of the top 20 teams is admittedly better this year in comparison to last year. You could be totally right and I hope you are, more importantly, I hope we get that opportunity to see who is right!

I've had this same thought, too (scary).

We have 7's twitter pal Herbie to thank in large part to the extent this backlash will occur this year.

Oh and I don't want to hear "Herbie has been one of our biggest proponents this year". That's all fine and good he gives us a 10 character mention on twitter once every 2 weeks, but that is like putting a teaspoon of water on the 10-alarm fire he started last year. Since name-calling is the in-thing right now in politics, I salute the end of the government shutdown by referring to Kirk as a BCS arsonist.

Herbstreit is an idiot and self-serving scumbag, and always will be.

You people are unbelievably paranoid. Nobody is sandbagging to keep NIU out of the BCS. NIU didn't "sneak" into the BCS last year because voters weren't paying attention. Everybody knew the MAC BCS chances going into the MAC Championship game.

You're making yourselves sound like idiots in tinfoil hats.

You see Herbie's tweet earlier this week bashing Tuesday night football? His replies to angry tweets really showed his lack of class. Saying that there are better football atmospheres at Ohio high school games. He may be right, but it's still an eliteist attitude by a jerk of a guy.

+1. I would be surprised by the end of the regular season if there is more than 3 undefeated teams.

HUHHHHH??? The MACC broadcast almost exclusively billed it as a Kent State chance. I think ESPN knew darn well what they were doing, but it just showed they were catering to the stupidity out there that NIU had no chance. ESPN knew full well NIU was likely to win that game and wanted to be sure NIU would not get the swell of support. Heck CBS sportsline's Jerry Palm said it was mathematically impossible for NIU to get in. If their BCS guru thought it was impossible, you think the average pollster thought it was even a remote chance? Hell, I was ridiculed on here for saying we had a chance.

NIU finished 16th in the AP, Harris, and coaches Poll. To be eligihble for the BCS, you have to finish in the Top 16.

So you're telling me, I'm supposed to believe Coaches who have been around college football for decades, had no idea what they were doing and ACIDENTALLY voted NIU in the Top 16? They were the ones who voted NIU in!

Just stop it. You sound unbelievably dumb.

That is my point, I don't think there was real awareness NIU would have a chance. It just doesn't register with many that a MAC team could make a BCS bowl. Kind of like Herbstreit, how come he couldn't see 2 weeks ago that NIU or Kent had a legitimate shot. Where was his rant 2 or 3 weeks before how embarrassing of a school NIU was, where was his "NORTHERN ILLINOIS" 2 weeks before saying how big of a travesty it would be. Answer: HE DIDNT THINK IT WOULD/COULD HAPPEN. And that is a college football analyst. He probably figured in the back of his mind computers would take care of an NIU or Kent.

It has nothing to do with Herbstreit. These BCS bowls have tens of millions at dollars at stake for their conference/schools plus exposure that you can't calculate the worth of. To sit and suggest they acidentally voted NIU in is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

NIU kept winning, teams kept losing, NIU moved up in the polls. It happened last year, nothing will be different this year.

Ok so are you saying Stoops honestly thought NIU was #24 and that there were no ulterior motives he had? Big 12 coaches knew what was at stake because they were directly affected by the at-large bid. There is a higher awareness this year which is why you are seeing Texas Tech struggling against an awful ISU and jumping 7 spots lol, I mean its not rocket science.

Oh, so the Big 12 coaches were aware of NIU's chances, but everybody else wasn't? You literally just said nobody knew NIU could get in the BCS last year like they do this year. Doesn't fit your argument very well, does it?

Lembo voted NIU 22nd in that poll, too.
