I took out the posts prior to the smack in the last thread. The other posts are on the Smack Board.

Anyone posting smack will be punished accordingly. And yes offending users have already been punished.

RE: Louisiana @ WKU Game Thread
I think the ULL defense is weaker than they think. Other than the TXST game the ULL defense hasn't looked too good. So was it the ULL defense or TXST lack of being a passing teaming forced to go outside of what the do?

This game will come down to which defense steps up tonight. WKU will 5 and 7 yard the ULL defense to death and a few 15 to 30 yard plays mixed in.

The WKU defense has shown over the past few weeks that we can take away the strength of the other team...something ULL hasn't shown yet.

So WKU over the ULRC by 14

I would argue that neither defense has looked particularly good. WKU's defense gave up more points to ULM than TxSt did, and Duke just showed that stopping Navy is no big trick. Giving up 34 to USA also doesn't just shout 'Great Defense!'. WKU will not throttle the UL run game, and when they have to walk a safety up in the box to help, the Cajun receivers will eat the 'Topper's CB's for breakfast.

Cajuns 35 Toppers 24

But we held Navy to 107 yards and knocking out their QB probably had a big affect on the Duke score. So our defense did shut down the NAVY strength.

The same with ULM in the 2nd half..defense made the right adjustments to shut ULM down. If the same Western defense that gives up big plays shows up tonight...

it's probably will be a long night for the good guys. I think Western has turned that corner on defense where things are starting to "click" under a new system. Tonight will be a good test on that.

By the same token, UL has played very poorly offensively until last week. We have not been at all in sync. I also believe that our defense is much better than most WKU fans believe. We have made adjustments in the last two weeks that have completely altered the character of the defense. It remains to be seen whether it will 'click' against a better offense.

I think tonight will be a good test for both teams; I just think mine is better than yours. lol

UL-31;WKU - 27 will be the final score.

I also hope it will be a well played and exciting game that will shine a positive light on the Sun Belt Conference!

So if I say, My team is better then both these teams, we proved it already to WKU and will at the end of the season against ULaLa. Is that grounds for punishment???

Very interested to watch this game. These 2 teams are clearly 2 of the better teams if not the best teams in the SBC this season.

Unfortunately a lot of what has been seen here, and some of what is unseen violates site rules.

Sorry

On more than 1 occasion, this has turn into huge fights that have broken site rules concerning personal insults and flaming. This is something we are taking seriously enough to have to make rules for tonight's game thread to keep the smack in the smack folder and honest discussion where it belongs.

The problem with that stance IMO is that WKU and Louisiana is not a friendly rivalry. While a few fans get a long that is the exception. There is genuine hatred of the two fan bases stemming from the Last time the Cajuns were dominate in MBB.

Actually WKU fans are more tolerant and understanding of personal transgressions, see Petrino , than they were when Michael Southall played with the Cajuns. It is great when a fan base evolves in such a positive way. Less judgementle.

As it was prior to my time in BG, I think, what is the story with Southall? Do not answer that publicly if it is going to open a can of worms.
Just PM me with the story.
Thanks.

RE: Louisiana @ WKU Game Thread
Never mind. I found it.
After nearly a year in jail, center Michael Southall is putting up all-conference numbers for Louisiana-Lafayette. Louisiana-Lafayette must be proud. This week's Ten for Tuesday went looking for some long-forgotten players and found them ... still playing college basketball. Who knew?

1. Michael Southall: Southall has a rap sheet you wouldn't believe, but there he is, playing for the Ragin' Cajuns. It's probably a coincidence that he has an NBA body (6-foot-10, 236 pounds) and is averaging 14 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.6 blocks. Here's his rap sheet: Arrested in May 2000 for delivery and possession of marijuana. Arrested in April 2001 for violating his bond by running away from police. (Those two mistakes cost Southall scholarships at Kentucky and Georgia Tech and landed him on three years of probation.) At ULL in 2003 Southall played well but then was suspended for academic reasons and went afoul of his probation by testing positive for alcohol and marijuana, and skipping meetings with his probation counselor. That earned him a sentence of one year in jail. ULL took him back
