Luck in the fact that we were 24 point favorites and won by 7. Hats off to Akron, they've taken two ranked teams to the wire.

That being said, I think out lack of O was an anomaly and will be back in form for the next game. Notice how Ballz Tate only beat Kent State by 3.

NIU is a good team that finds ways to win.

That last sentence is something I agree with big time. They've found different ways to win, too.

The middle of the MAC might be better than I thought. I mean, they didn't win OOC games, but that doesn't mean they can't compete with NIU on the right night. Other than a few games, I don't think I'll be predicting too many blowouts for the Huskies the rest of the way.

So you think NIU wins are meaningless unless they are against major teams? NIU will never play those teams for most of their games....Why do you watch then?

This is just how it is in college football, KState loss to an FCS team and then lost to the 15th ranked team in the land by only 10 today.

It takes 2 months to figure out which teams are any good, especially with all the slanted and crappy schedules. This is why I don't think a poll should exist until at LEAST a month in.

Akron has a better team than given credit for.

Let's hope our offense clicks again next week and Sims is back. I know Lynch wants to go out on a high note. He has 7 or 8 colleges games left.

See, it's funny you mention "credit." People get mad at the voters for only looking at scores and records, but they do the same thing.

Akron hasn't beat a decent team in a LONG....LONG....time...but that doesn't mean they haven't gotten better. NIU shouldn't automatically annihilate them because they have a crappy record.

Stanford just fell to unranked Utah, who's biggest win is against BYU, who lost to UV, who Ball State beat bad. Chaz, this is my last comment to you, then I will find that damn button. NIU is not a national powerhouse, but a hell of a lot better than 75% of the NCAA D1 schools. Get a life, I really mean it. Go get laid, girl, guy, goat, whatever, just do it. You will be happier, and we will get a break from you.

Exactly, Akron was 1 yard away from beating the 18th ranked team in the country.

I agree. It's only because of the idiotic BCS system that people talk endlessly about "style points" and argue about ridiculous transitive " who beat who" wins.

In the NFL only wins matter, it doesn;t matter by how much. The "any given Sunday" theory.

Huskies came away with a win from an Akron team that is improving and has flashes of brilliance. They kept our offense in check but we had nough to win.

This game has no bearing on how we'll do in our next games. All games are independent variables.

Hopefully you have, or will soon have, a psychiatrist. You spend so much much trolling on a board for a team you denigrate (look up that word) you must be lacking in many areas. We can guess the main one.

Straight playoffs, like the FCS, but it will never happen. Too much money and tradition from the football factories. They don;t want a level playing field, literally.

Unless you are a psychiatrist you have no idea what makes me happy.
You are just demonstrating what an idiot you are. Put me on ignore please. Hopefully this will be your last comment.

Hopefully you have, or will soon have, a psychiatrist. You spend so much much trolling on a board for a team you denigrate (look up that word) you must be lacking in many areas. We can guess the main one.

still more comments? You can't find the ignore button? You must be a stupid head.

Bored tonight, and you're fun to mess with. I feel like a bully because you're so pathetic, but hey, you stick around, so why not?

You can't resist looking stupid can you? As long as there are idiots like you on the board I will certainly stick around.

Yeah and just when do we play Micihigan, Oklahoma or Stanford?

Sat, Sept 14 @ #11 Michigan 28 Akron 24

Kind of bursts your Big10 mancrush, doesn't it?

Stanford just fell to unranked Utah, who's biggest win is against BYU, who lost to UV, who Ball State beat bad. Chaz, this is my last comment to you, then I will find that damn button. NIU is not a national powerhouse, but a hell of a lot better than 75% of the NCAA D1 schools. Get a life, I really mean it. Go get laid, girl, guy, goat, whatever, just do it. I wouldn't say" hell of a lot better by any means. Better, maybe, than 65-70%

From the way this team has played against the likes of Akron, Idaho and EIU, they do not deserve to be a top 25 team and would not be if they didn't do what they did ly, started out 30 or so. But that's the way it is, luckily for NIU this year, and what occurs when you don't lose.

I don't know why they can't get up for these games when other schools absolutely destroy these teams, ala Fresno did Idaho.(And I would call Akron @ Michigan an anomaly and as many would say, an overrated UM taking Akon for granted.) It's like going through the motions, calling set plays, not adjusting. 1-15 on third down, basically a pathetic offense that was the same as theirs. And again, this isn't the 1st time. I think Lynch is playing really hurt, and Baker suggested when he said "you don't want to see Lynch carrying the ball on third and short" in the 1st quarter. That may be the sole reason. Perhaps that's why we are passing deep after decent runs. I just have no idea why it seems this team goes for the home run ball constantly when other things appear open short. But still don't get why this team can't get up for a game for 2 sellouts. That's a problem. And calling a timeout (your second) when the other team has the ball, 2 min left in the half, is idiotic. I think I can safely say NIU is in no danger of losing Carey to a auto BCS qualifier. No way. He'd be lucky to get a call from CUSA or BigEast.

This team can play when they want to, but when you consistently play subpar...winning by 21 vs 2 of the worst teams in FBS and a FCS it raises more questions and concerns than giving one confidence in them.
