Exclamation Timeline for GA State to be competitive in FB?
Just wondering your opinions on how long you think it will take with the present recruiting and staff? Noticed they started 0-3 so far in 2013. Not try6ing to smack you, just looking for real analysis by those close to the program who might know.

Thanks.

Yeah, doesn't really look like it this year so far.

Thanks for answering.

If you move up you get slammed. Unless youre Marshall and the NCAA created a rule to prevent any more Marshalls

The good thing is that this isn't a rivalry

I'm not sure what that has to do with me not knowing Georgia State's timeline to be competitive, but okay.

coincidentally, my school, Rice is playing Marshall at home in Houston for the C-USA Championship this Saturday at 12 noon EST on ESPN-2! If you're looking for a small school underdog to support perhaps we can be a stand-in this season.

Guess it's gonna be a while still in FB.

Ya'll look good in Men's Hoops this season, however.

As the rumor mill has UAB possibly being forced to drop Football (and probably out of C-USA, my vote would be to add GA State to C-USA East and move one of the existing C-USA East teams to C-USA West.

Although your football is a work in progress, adding the metro Atlanta area to the C-USA footprint would be a net gain over losing Birmingham IMHO. Plus, if ya'll do get the Turner Field buyout plan done, it would be a tremendous coup for GA State and help that area near downtown Atlanta overall.

I live in the Atlanta area, and I follow several colleges athletics doings besides just my own. I'm excited to see GA State growing as I think its a plus for the metro Atlanta area as a whole.

My random question would be: where are all ya'll's fans posting?

I don't know about being in Conference USA. I am a huge Georgia State fan. Seeing progress alone makes me happy. I love being in the sun belt. Maybe it would be better to be in CUSA but I like it here. For being on tv USA would probably be better.

This could not be any more true. We post on own board because we get blasted all the time over here.

Cool, I was curious about y'all's board because the CSNBBS board y'all had was pretty active...but then y'all moved...and I can't find it anymore.

OK, thanks. I knew there had to be one somewhere. But with the landscape changing again and a potential spot in CUSA opening up, hard to see why GA State would not be the best option.

Perhaps with the basketball season and your stronger team this year, more of ya'll will post here as well? You are a decent school in a big, important market with rapid growth and potential. Anyone not recognizing that is just being ridiculous. I hope you get the chance to grab Turner Field when the Braves move and build that athletics/academic south campus that I saw plans for. Would be great for Ga State, and great for Atlanta!

You're welcome. I like reading ya'lls other board, but would welcome more of you posting over here once in a while to get things going again for you.

Thanks for posting on my school's (Rice) realignment discussion thread. It is surprising to me how anyone could seriously consider CUSA adding a schools like Texas State/San Marcos, Lousiana-Lafayette, AK State somewhere in east nowhere, Arkansas and South Alabama over the #3 with a bullet state school in Atlanta, GA: GA State.

As far as your football, I'm sure you will improve as time goes on and make believers out of more folks. Rice has nothing to throw stones about as our football program has been mostly a joke for 40 years, and only recently improved slightly to marginal with the stars aligning for an unusual conference championship last season. I guess when you're the underdog, you can sneak up on people once. We certainly got taken more seriously this season and the only teams we beat were among the worst in FBS. But you have to start somewhere.

GA State's growing reputation will help it quickly become a better football option eclipsing GA Southern within 10 years, simply due to its location, especially as the Braves Stadium/Turner Field campus extension greatly increases its visibility and importance to Atlanta itself.

If CUSA isn't smart and snap you up a bit early, I'm sure GA State will become like UCF and have greater opportunities around the corner, maybe even a P5 someday.
