I don't see anybody making Kiffen their primary target for a head coaching position. He's proven three times, once in the NFL and twice now in FBS, he simply isn't head coach material. If he gets another HC position in the next year or so it's because someone has missed badly on their other targets and there simply isn't anyone else. Essentially Kiffen is Tommy West, but with a bigger PR machine.

Now, I could see him staying out west somewhere and being named an assistant somewhere after the season.

Tampa is just god awful. Try being in Central Florida, where if you don't have DISH NFL package, your NFL choices are Tampa or Jacksonville on TV......

I really don't think USC will want to wait till Denver's season is over to make JDR the next HC of USC. You have to think Denver is going to be in the mix of the playoffs not to mention a big contender to go to the Super Bowl, and this will have a huge effect IMO on recruiting if they indeed wait like you mention. I don't know if I take a chance on someone with NO college coaching experience for it is totally different than the pro's. If they can get Sumlin who IMO would be able to translate his philosophy that just so happens suits the west coast it would be a match made in heaven or at least to the trojan faithfull. I don't know WHO they go after, but I bet they have someone with in a week or two give or take of the National Championship Game.

I'd say Oakland Raiders, Tennessee Vols and now USC Trojans won the Lane Kiffin sweepstakes, he's no longer coaching their teams.

USC has already named Ed Ogeron the interim coach. So I think they're willing to wait out this season...

Would be worth the wait, but the rumor is killing my Denver Bronco loving son-in-law. Well I do own five acres in Colorado so I guess I am a bit vested too.
