The craziness that is going on in Kalamazoo
I just realized there is an active WMU board on this site not too long ago and I guess I've been reading it for the same reason that some people watch those shows like Jersey Shore, etc. PJ Fleck has quickly turned that program into a trainwreck with all his antics. Not saying that he can't or won't turn it around but right now it is just something that you have to stop and watch.

Anyway, I just went over there and found myself laughing out loud at this post by a WMU regarding the importance of their upcoming game with Kent.

Quote:yeah we did, kinda the deer in the headlights look and feel.

But Kent State is the MAC. It really means something, not just payday #3. At home with a real horse and DJ and the whole nine yards.

If they can't get it up for this, what does that tell us. 0-12 is my feeling on it.

Beat Kent, maybe we can go 3-4 wins. Maybe we can beat Central. Maybe we can hold on to our recruits.

That's the difference between meeting expectations vs. just blowing a hole in the hull and dumping the hulk of the flecking boat to the bottom of Valley Pond.

Can you imagine trying to salvage a program coming off 0-12? with a 33 year old coach and the assistants heading for the exits like Norway Rats?

This is the Real Deal here folks. Do or Die. Serious Stuff. D-1 drama right here at Waldo. Live and in person.

well, they went into iowa and beat them a few years back. now, they get pounded 38-3, by halftime. they lose to an average fcs team at home. they are getting worse. best game they played was the opener against mich st.

Something about Fleck's personality just seems a little off. Not normal like us.

A bronco with an oar in a boat - why is that not normal? Or is it more like a zebra in a boat with a tiger? Oh Pi oh Pi!

An NIU grad that we constantly screwed out of bowl games who is now the head coach of one of the worst teams in FBS... What's this about again?

So...will we be hearing any crazy chants next weekend in the Glass Bowl from anyone seated behind the WMU coaching staff?

04-cheers

I didn't understand the "whole row the boat" thing until seeing the videos. I give him credit for what he's trying to do. Unfortunately, he comes off looking slightly hysterical. Like another poster said, he really needs to tone it down a little.

There ought to be something we could do with a nautical theme.

Maybe we could get the "Wide right!" guy to yell "Wide starboard!"

I'm not even sure what to say about that video...I assume their early commits have not seen this. How embarrassing.....I felt weird watching it and I have no ties to the place whatsoever.

C'mon guys the "Row The Boat" idea was perfectly named by Fleck. 03-idea
Because he knew everything he was going to show them and do to WMU's football program was going to be a "shipwreck", and everybody would be in the lifeboats trying to get away from all the idiotic stupidity........ 03-banghead

I'm not a fan of integrating this slogan so deeply into the DNA of our program.

But I also can't get into the mind of a father who watched his small child die in his wife's arms either. As a parent of an infant boy, I can't even fathom that. That had to have been Hell on Earth for him.

Sure, I could mock the rest of the rambling video clip - and I've made some "pun" shipwreck jokes after our 0-4 start - but the first couple minutes of the clip keep me grounded.

Agree. After hearing the story about losing his baby, I really wasn't interested in football.

RE: The craziness that is going on in Kalamazoo
I think we can see the two issues.

I sympathize, and can empathize with him on his tragic loss. That can affect a person for a long time.

As regards the football part, I think he's a young guy trying to promote himself and the WMU football program in his charge. Due to his level of maturity, and possibly even his emotional state, he's just pushing it a little over the top, almost obsessively. I see what he's doing, just not sure he can make it fit.

In any case, I wish the Bronco fans the best and hope things improve quickly. We down here in T town know what it's like to have losing seasons. Hopefully the Bronc's don't have one.

That's my thought. If he was using RTB and it was more of just a team thing, it wouldn't be a big deal. But he is making it too huge.

Row the boat is about looking backwards as you move forward. I see paddles not oars. Paddling a raft in whitewater rapids works better for me. Team work in navigating those rapids is key. When I think of a team rowing I think of the Egyptians and Vikings and the poor souls who had to row under the direction of some huge dude with a whip. But I get his point of all being in it together.

Sucks about his kid. Don't bring it into this video. Dude has a screw loose, and glad he left NIU. One question, if he somehow does good things at WMU and gets a better gig, does he bring his boat with him?
