They had one yard in the second half and we out gained them by about 300 yards. If they think they've closed the gap they're incredibly stupid.

UC's defense is OK, Miami's offense is historically bad. Averaging 145 yards through three. No team has averaged under 200 per game in at least a decade, probably longer.

I never said anything about the D being bad. D played pretty good. However, a team as bad a cry-ami, yes they are terrible, should be blown out by 50 not 14. Cry-ami gets a lucky break and scores a TD, its a different game.

Miami offense totally sux....using our defensive performance against Miami as a gauge for what we will do vs UofL is insane. UofL offense is elite. Teddy B will pick us apart. Heck UH will throw at will against us.

Miami also dressed 51 freshman. They should have a nice team in a couple years. Running that triple option though will keep them from scoring many points. No way to judge UC's defense against that dreck.

Exactly. People love scapegoats...and like simple answers to explain everything. Munchie's gone....so let's demonize Eddie Gran.

Despite how bad Miami is.....the defensive effort was overwhelmingly dominate. Miami never even threatened to score.

Combine a QB who's entire body of work consists of less than 8 career starts....who looks increasing average with his accuracy and arm strength.....with a defensive approach where the other team drops 8 guys everydown......and most coaches will run. 3 turnovers and 2 missed FGs.....has nothing to do with play calling. Not defending the overall effort or result.....but the complete demonization of a coach who's been here 4 games seems more than knee jerk.

This last paragraph.

The level of trust, anticipation and the wacky projections associated to Kay were in part the result of uncritical analysis. He has yet to defeat anything close to a talented defense yet he was on par with guys like Bridgewater (by some?!?)

No, you have to go out there and win and win with regularity to earn what has been thrust on him.

With all of that said it's way early to make sweeping generalizations. One thing is for certain, I think we've finally seen what the coaching staff saw in their evaluations of who is best suited to run the O with the team we have.

This-> The level of trust, anticipation and the wacky projections associated to Kay were in part the result of uncritical analysis. He has yet to defeat anything close to a talented defense yet he was on par with guys like Bridgewater. It seems this staff likes a guy that can run and pass but since he is gone they will need to retool some of the playbook.

Miami bet the house with playing cover three that Kay could not beat them and he couldn't. I really like what their DC did with number 3 setting up in the middle right behind LB's and spying QB and TB's, give them credit for an excellent game plan. UC won simply by running the ball the last quarter and a half. Most running plays probably had Munchie with an option to keep and run, those could not be used with Kay at QB, limiting their run game yesterday. By the way, where the hell is McClung.

McClung was injured and was held out for precautionary reasons. He should be good to go for the USF game. I thought Shaq did a pretty good job in his stead.

I hope Shaq holds onto the PR duties. I think McClung is very dependable as a WR, and having him and Shaq there is a good problem to have.

But, I am not as big of a fan of McClung as a PR.

Hopefully they use it by watching game film of last year's offense that played to the strengths of the guys we are counting on rather than forcing round pegs into square holes.

He rarely talked back then.

His system was so boring it said all we needed to hear. Lots of QB draws on 3rd and long.

Wow.

Story made the rounds when Dantonio left was that he made a big push for Treadwell as his replacement @ UC. Thankfully, the powers that be at that time said absolutely not to that idea before hiring Brian Kelly.

If he thinks his offense is improving how many 2nd half yards would they have gained before? 0.5?

As bad as our offense was the game could have been 2 days long and that offense still wouldn't have scored. One of the stupidest coaches comments I've ever heard.
