don't mind traveling the country if Tech can get teams like St. Mary's

This. We all need to have this mindset until we work our way up to something. We don't need to demand home and homes. Take 2 for 1's. Take paydays. Travel across the country to play the best team possible. Whatever it takes to have some decent teams on the schedule. I understand everybody wants as many home games as possible, but who the hell cares if you have 13 home games OOC against NE, SE, SW, NW DII state for 12 of those games?

No more prostitution games please. Great way to schedule yourself into permanent mediocrity. Been there, done that at Southern Miss.

We have little basketball history and terrible facilities....what exactly would bait a great team into a home and home with us?
We just need to keep winning, then worry about that.

Exactly how many prostitution games have we won in basketball over the years? Look it up if you want. Easy way for you to schedule if you are an AD just to get by year to year if that is you want. You are right, winning is the way to do it, but not on others home courts with biased refs.

I wasn't necessarily saying load up with 13 games at the big boy's houses, but you are going to have to give in a little at some point. We all saw what happens to Southern Miss when you have no meaningful games won in your OOC schedule. That doesn't work either.

Just don't schedule any "buy" games. You can go on the road and play any power team you can. It sucks to not be able to get those guys to come to you, but sometimes we just have to bite the bullet and go to them to help with league/team RPI. Charlotte plays some bigger teams at the Bobcat's arena instead of Halton as well.

Everyone schedules buy games. What do you think games against UNC Asheville are for us? They're not playing us at home every year out of the goodness of their hearts. We're paying them to play us.

RE: Tech releases 2013-2014 basketball schedule
Yeah, I don't think anybody is advocating playing 13 games that are basically coin flips or worse.
I think our typical C-USA schedule should look something like this:
1 tournament
2-3 games with power conference teams(H&H, 2 for 1, 3 for 1, buy game, however you can do it)
4-6 games against non power teams that are normally legit(Belmont, St Marys, Valpo, Davidson, the upper half of the MAC, MVC, A-10, MWC, etc.)
2-5 home games you should win

How were we able to do that in the A10 when the A10 had that no buy game rule? Was it tied to RPI or something? Maybe I'm just calling it by the wrong name.

Uh hum...we didn't do anything that year because we lost to UAB....and Marshall in football. We were set up with a schedule to get a BCS game and failed to win those games that should have been winners for us. Simple as that. Last year we played whore games and lost them on the road. Cost us an NCAA bid.

I don't think the A10 had a no buy game rule. It had a no non-D1 rule.
The A10 rule also had guidelines (although I'm not sure if they were hard rules) for what kind of RPI opponents you should schedule depending on what level your program was at. They also tried to adjust the home and home conference games so that the best programs were matched up to play as many good RPI games as possible.

What in the hell are you talking about? I'm not talking about football.
You didn't make the tournament last year because you had no quality wins. You can tell yourself whatever you need to in order to feel better about it, but that is the true reason.

What's up with all these basketball schedules coming up with horrendous out-of-conference opponents? Like, what is that? Seriously? MT has it bad too. I don't understand...
Should be MANY high win teams by the time conference play starts, so I would definitely say that's a good thing.

Charlotte can't get any NC based ACC teams, sans Wake, to play us. Wake played us downtown and not in Halton. Clemson andGA Tech have played us in Halton. Dean Smith used to have a rule about not playing in state non ACC schools as well.
