Who will replace Corso?
I believe that this is Lee Corso's final season on Game Day. So who would you select to replace him?
We know that Mack Brown and Lane Kiffin will probably be available. I saw one comment that suggested Rick Neuheisel because he is very outspoken. Too bad he has baggage or else he probably would already be on ESPN.
Maybe a promotion: Lou Holtz, Mark May or Matt Millen (OK, I just mentioned them for laughs. I hope no one had a stroke.)

Gruden. You need another strong personality with a sense of humor.

Gruden will be in the pros coaching next year.
i don't know if they replace Corso. Can't take Kiffin because he goes anywhere near the SE, he's going to get decimated. I'll say a name that is out there but could see him in the crazy Corso role.... Barry Switzer.

Depends if they want someone who will emphasize the comedy and jokes like Corso has done, or someone quieter. When Howard Cosell and Don Meredith quit the old Monday Night Football 30years ago, ABC did not look for replacements that were similar to them.
Even if (as I suspect) he is not coaching the Longhorns next year, I don't think Mack Brown would do it.

Personality and pedigree are "right" but I think ESPN will want someone younger (Corso is 78, Holtz is 76, Switzer will be 76 in October).

RE: Who will replace Corso?
Lee Fitting recently had an interview with Paul Finebaum, and he intimated that they will not look to replace Corso in his role. It is obvious that they want to use David Pollack more prominently. I think they will just let him stay in that seat for the whole 3 hours instead of swapping him in and out with Corso. They will probably retire the head dress on the Corso pick, at least for a few years. I'm sure they will come up with something to stir that crowd, though. There is no reason they can't march out Corso just to do the picks and maybe some campus videos similar to what Scott Van Pelt does now. As long as Corso is able to keep the sentences short or has multiple takes to cover up speaking mistakes, he still knocks out his role.
Also, Chris Fowler REALLY wants back in the booth, according to his interview with Richard Deitsch, and ESPN knows it. I bet he and Herbstreit will eventually be the ABC primetime team. Rece Davis can easily start working with GameDay as a co-host as needed.

RE: Who will replace Corso?
I think Musberger is done after next year if memory serves me correct. So it would be interesting to see if they have next year with Fowler/Corso/Herbstreit/Howard/etc. then in 2015 have Davis/Howard/Pollack/1 more. Have Herbie not on there as well.

Cowherd would actually be very good in the role.

Cowherd would, but I don't think he would do it. I think it's Rece Davis job to lose quite frankly...

RE: Who will replace Corso?
Cowherd is not lovable like Corso or even Vitale, though. I think Cowherd is more of a regional taste. For example, Southerners love to hate Finebaum, and it seems like Cowherd fills that role for northern states. It is my impression that northern states just hate Finebaum but love to hate Cowherd. With ESPN revealing that 40% of the GameDay audience comes from the 11 state SEC footprint, I don't think they would risk Cowherd; people just hate listening to him here, not love to hate. I have no data or studies on this; just impressions.

I am less sure about that by the year. If he wanted a job he could have one, yet he chooses not too. The only way I see him returning to coaching is if the Cowboys job opens up this year, and they come after him strong. The longer he gets away from the grind, the harder it will be for him to give up his gig. Otherwise, and being a former Raiders coach to boot, I think he might just fall into the next John Madden role. Get paid the same, or more, than coaching, without the stress. Maybe he can even take over the Madden video game franchise.

Oh, and don't laugh. Do you know who I think would be really good in that role, even though most people will crush me for saying so? Skip Bayless.
Another thought is Jonathan Coachman. Seeing as how he spent 10 years in the WWE as an announcer and on air personality, he's the type that could excel in ad-libbing and playing to the crowd. But I suppose you need a coach or former player in that position.

look at the teams possibly available this upcoming offseason.
Jets
Cowboys
Vikings
and I'll give you a sleeper. Redskins. Imagine Gruden with RG3.

Every team with an opening gives a courtesy call to Jon Gruden and Bill Cowher and they both say no. Jets or Vikings. They;d be lucky if he picks up the phone. Dallas! Because of who they are he'd have to listen. But remember he did not get along with Al Davis at all, and Jerry Jones is not much better. I just don't think he will come back.
As to your Redskins comment, if you think about it, Gruden is known as a quarterback guru, but he never really developed any young quarterbacks. Not one. He helped some veteran QB's improve, but he mostly struck out on the ones he molded. Food for thought.

I think teams have stopped calling Bill Cowher a couple years ago. Supposedly he was interested in getting back into coaching but there haven't been any takers.

I really don't see Cowher at all. think he's really happy where he is. Gruden a completely different animal.
I think Gruden maybe has learned a lot with the young QB's the last few years doing the draft prep specials. So, while his MO in the past was veteran QB, could see him working with RG3(in his 3rd year).
