1. Alabama
2. Oregon
3. Stanford
4. South Carolina
5. Clemson
6. Louisville
7. Florida
8. LSU
9. Texas A&M
10. Michigan
11. Notre Dame
12. Florida State
13. Georgia
14. UCLA
15. Oklahoma State

Hate all you want, but it's my opinion. I was unimpressed by many of these teams. If you're a top tier team, you take care of business, and you do it in the first half. Especially when facing non AQ teams at home. I you don't agree, just post yours. I'd like to see everyone else's anyway.

You're ratings aren't the least bit SEC slanted. Try Subtlety101. Typical retarded Bammer nonsense.

No one is worthy of a #1 ranking until they beat Bama, and or go undefeated regular season. Last team worthy before Alabama was Notre Dame in 2012 and LSU in 2011. No one else has proven worthy since then. Bama's defense and special teams were very impressive last night. Oregon played Nicholls State, but TCOB. Stanford had off week, who knows. Clemson and South Carolina both looked like contenders, and LSU and Florida looked good as well. TAMU was average at best. Louisville looked like a top 5 team. Michigan and Notre Dame TCOB. Baylor, UCLA, Wisky, Okie State all TCOB. TCU played well vs LSU. Georgia played well vs Clemson. Ole Miss and Vandy looked solid. Washington really looked good. Oklahoma, Texas, Nebraska, Ohio State all need to toughen up. Fresno State looked good, as well as Rutgers. Cincinatti and Michigan State looked good, but I need to see them play again. Northwestern traveled cross country and won. That's my take.

That logic is off for 2 reasons IMO.

1- Bama went with one loss last year and beat a team in a BCS game that for much of the year had an inside track at the title, just like Oregon. Why should Bama get any favoritism in the rankings this year due to pollsters giving them a shot Oregon didn't get? I have little doubt UO would have worked over Nd as well.

Both are great teams and should be evaluated on current results, not fortunate voting on bowl pairings.

2- Barrett Jones and his other OL as well as others aren't walking through the door so it isn't the same team. Bama returns some good guys but the "have to beat the best" measure implies "the best" are still there, when the reality is part of that team is gone. It's a new year and new teams. I don't care about 2012 now unless you have close to 22 starters back.

What Alabama did last year or 3 of the last 4 years is irrelevant. Alabama was good, but not especially impressive. VT wasn't that good last year.

What was notable was the relative lack of blowouts in the first week. Pretty much just a handful of games vs. FCS-Oregon, Baylor, Georgia Tech. And FCS did pretty well overall.

Ok... we looked awful on the Oline. I have already said that in other threads. But at the end of the day, we played atrociously vs a solid VT defense, and still won decisively 35-10 AND covered the spread after a dismal performance. How many teams play that bad and still win by 20+?

I'm just noticing Stanford is ranked in the top ten not just here but in the regular polls and I'm not sure why? Did they replace their once in a generation quarterback with another once in a generation quarterback? (Are the generations passing faster?)

Yep. And I tell it how I see it. Right now, I'm worried about the A&M game. And prior to the season, I figured we would have 3 games to worry about. But I have 4 now, with LSU, A&M, Ole Miss and Auburn. Even throw a Mississippi State in there. It's gonna be a tougher year than we've had in the past, I see it being much like 2009. We could possibly lose 2 games this year. But we are capable of 14-0 if we can gel the O line. I think anyone in the top 10 could give Bama trouble, also Notre Dame.

I did say that everyone can post their top 25 if they have one. But apparently no one here has opinions for themselves, they just criticize. Alabama is the best as of right now. I believe Ohio State may lose 3 games this year. Nebraska could lose more than that. Texas should be fine, as long as they start games well. Same for Oklahoma. TCU looked very good vs a top tier defense. Okie State played well. I think those 2 teams will decide the Big12 this year. Texas has to start quicker than they did vs New Mexico State if they want to win the Big12.

So go ahead and post your top25, since you apparently have better insight than I do.

The conventional wisdom on Stanford is that their O and D lines are super dominant, they're very solid at RB and TE, and therefore it won't matter if their QB is merely ok. Their schedule is backloaded (Oregon, USC and ND all in November), but maybe if UW is as good as they looked against Boise then UW-Stanford will be a good test.

RE: My top 25 (assuming FSU wins tomorrow)
SEC had teams ranked 1/5/6/7/10/12 going into this weekend, and all but #5 won by double digits...

We won't see too much change in the polls. #5 Georgia, #19 Boise St, #20 TCU, and #25 Oregon St were only ranked teams that lost. Georgia and TCU will remain ranked. So, really only 2 teams will come into the top 25 this week, I'd guess for sure Washington will be one of them. The other spot- likely between Miami(29/27 last week),Michigan St(26/28 last week), or Baylor(27/29 last week).

My critique isn't about whether Bama is good, it's more with the basic principle of "we won last year so we're #1 until we lose!" being a less than objective measure of strength.

I think Bama is definitely a top team. Are they better than the other top teams? WAY too early to tell.

Umm, using your own words that Oklahoma played soft, and still pitched a shutout. Oh and won by 34 points. Guess that means Alabama is playing soft too? You're a fricking genius. SEC Kool-Aid drinker.

RE: My top 25 (assuming FSU wins tomorrow)
Hard to argue with the OP Top 25.

Alabama will stay #1 until some team knocks them off their throne or puts a good scare into them. #2 through #24 could be shifted up or down and somebody could find a problem with it.

Only difference for me is #25. Fresno would take another win and a loss by another team in the Top 25 to break into the pool in my ranking. Their win over Rutgers was good, but I think Cincy's blowout of Purdue was better. I'd give the Bearcats the benefit of the doubt and put them in the Top 25.

Fresno and Northern Illinois would be Top 30.
