Exhausted is correct, the Southern Mississippi defense had played so well all night up to that point.

This is very reminiscent of last year.

WOW! 131 yards in 3.8 quarters and 88 yards in 1 drive?

yep... defense played brilliantly til we gave up a 1st down on a 4th and 19. And then we just couldn't stop anythig on that drive.

Our OL definitely sucks (and is going to be a major rebuilding project for Monken to get fixed), Bridgeford was forcing too many throws in coverage earlier.. and our running backs couldn't hold a ball for more than 2 plays before turning it over.

I would say congrats Texas State, but this was almost a case of "who wanted the game less"
3rd quarter we actually looked like a good TEAM and then that one drive..

Wrap this one up with a L. That's 13 straight losses and looking 16 dead in the eye. 5 turnovers just makes it difficult to win.

I just watched a thoroughly pathetic team, from AD to waterboy. This is an embarrassment to a once fine institution. Todd Monken should give back his salary and Brifgeford should donate his cup to a nun who lost her thimble.

The only pathetic part was the Line and Bridgeford's first half. (he was something like 5/13 for about 53 yards after the Hardy fumble until the second half). The Defense played BRILLIANTLY (again, other than that last drive on the 4th and 19). Hell, the even had the first touchdown for TxState sniffed out they just missed one key tackle.

When you hold your opponent to ONE drive over 40 yards (that's it.. they had ONE flippin' drive of 40 yards) until the very end.. You should be dominating the game.

USM gets the lead and on 3rd and 20, our DC pulls the starting dline and only rushes 3. Gives the Texas State qb all day to throw and he converts.
This team has no clue how to win. I had hoped Monken and the new staff could overcome last year, but it is going to take a long time. I see maybe 2 wins if we are lucky.

I didn't get that change either.. we're holding them to about 13 yards per drive up until that change. You dont change what's working, do you?

That many turnover will kill your chances. I am sure USM will improve that and have a good year.

it doesn't ma tter. we're launching into the world of having to beat boise, nebraska, or arkansas on order to avoid 0-16

The football gods just smiled on us today. We caught break after break after break in this one. Southern Miss should have won.. they played better overall and their defense was fantastic.

we only had 120 yards of offense going into the fourth yet still snuck away with it.

Dont get down on yourselves too much... again, you're d was amazing. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

kudos to tx st...they did what was necessary and we did not.

We've got three weeks of purgatory to get through now.

Nebraska's opener.
Boise State on that craptastic blue field
Arkansas who basically manhandled ULaLa today

The bugs will be fixed, but this is going to be a rough month to get through...

Give your team credit for earning the win. When they lost the lead, they drove down the field to get the winning td. Good teams do that. Be proud of them. Congrats on the win.

For what it's worth, neither did UAB. Blazers snatch defeat from the jaws of victory blowing a 2 TD lead against Troy, losing by 3 in OT.
