I think the cops need to be involved, that has to be some type of child abuse.

RE: ODU Master Plan
Just an observation from a long time lurker and occasional poster. This also gets all the athletic facilites (with the exception of the Ted) on the same side of campus. As much as I love Foreman Field, it took up a lot of valuable space that could be used for new classroom or administrative buildings. This is a great move by ODU. I hope they incorporate some sort of homage to Foreman Field into the design, maybe the arches or something. Just my worthless opinion 03-wink

I'm a Redskins fan that lives in Richmond. I'll see myself out....

totall agree. as a Giants fan who grew up in richmond and now lives in NoVA the skins fans are the worst. even more so now that they have this Bob3 character. there's at least 2 articles in the paper a day about him.

also regarding richmond (I actually love richmond) - Braves, VCU and the Redskins. thats who just about all of my friends from richmond root for which equates to a calendar years worth of hate from me!

RE: ODU Master Plan
So is part of ODU's Master Plan having the Redskins abandon their brand new training camp facility in Richmond and moving it to the ODU campus?

I am so happy that there was no recommendation to move our new stadium to an off campus location.

Mayor Fraim's take on ODU's master plan presentation. There are some interesting tidbits especially regarding increasing faculty and research staff numbers...

I like the idea of using the top level of future parking decks as recreational/tailgating/greenspace areas. Construction and land acquisition must be crazy expensive in NOVA. $50M for a 1, 100 space deck. Wow.

May be i am the only one who is wondering about this but will demolishing the powhattan suffice the space reqs? I just dont see a 30 k stadium fitting in if we have to leave white hurst and lamberts point intact.

do you guys think we will grab the extra space by closing the street and relocating tennis courts as well?

I would think they take the tennis courts and that section of Powhatan Avenue and that parking lot beside Powhatan Avenue could be used too.

Right 02-13-banana and if the ceiling of TED is viable we can move 6 of these courts onto the top of TED. I am not a major in architecture and construction but i am hoping the ceiling of TED holds and who knows may be the University Village can also chip in.

I really think that Whitehurst Hall should be moved, as well as Powhatan Apts. In the Perkins+Will assesment of property conditions study they were both rated as in fair/poor condition and in need of major renovations. IMO all of the housing structure in that area need to be replaced elsewhere on campus and then razed to make adequate space for not only the new football stadium, but the planned adjacent softball stadium. Perhaps in the presentation given this past Monday it was just presented as a need to replace the Powhatan Apartments, but not communicated or reported that need includes Whitehurst also.

UAB's campus plan indicates a 4 block area for a 27,500 seat stadium. I imagine yours will take a similar footprint.
