14 tourney wins vs. 1 tourney win

Pastner has miles and miles to go to make me forget Cal.

Well if we cut Cal's time to just his first 4 years here too, it equal. Can't compare a 9 year run to the 4 year run of a rookie coach.

Pastner can never make me forget Cal's run. Just like Cal's run could never make me forget Dana Kirk's run.

Why would we have to forget them?

Terrible title for an article. I think the author of it is on a fishing expedition.

I agree, I won't ever forget. But you can't cut Cal's time to 4 years. We are talking about what has been accomplished. It's not theory or speculation to see how the Cal era turned out. He won 14 tourney games while at Memphis. It is fact.

Pastner has only won 1. Anything beyond that is pure speculation and faith. I have doubts that he will ever do what Cal did, but I'm not counting him out either.

He's reeled in quite a few so far, in fact.

So I'll bite. I KNEW Cal was a snake. Heck, we ALL knew Cal was a snake.
But He was OUR snake!

I do, however, enjoy not expecting the latest NCAA story to break every time I log on to the Commercial Appeal.

If you are going to compare it specifically to the 4 year run of a rookie coach, then you have to cut Cal's to his first 4 years here.

How is it fair to compare a 9 year run of a former NBA and F4 coach to a 4 year run of a rookie?

If you just wanna talk about Cal's record in totality, that's fine. But if you're gonna make the comparison to Josh, it has to be about their first 4 years here. We can't predict what Josh is going to do the rest of the decade.

Though I do feel strongly CJP will have us in another final 4 within the next 4-5 years. Maybe more than one.

Because the whole argument that the writer made is that Pastner is making us forget Cal. You look at what Cal did, and you look at what Pastner has done so far. No comparison.

It would be a bit like comparing Cal after his 4th season here to Dana Kirk's run.

One turney win compared to 3 Sweet 16's and a final 4.

No contest until you wait and fill in the rest of their careers.

Cal actually had it going by year 4. We won a tourney game that season. Year 5 was a step back because our best player went nuts. The 2001-02 team would have won the water downed CUSA we had the last 8 years too. Probably would have won an NCAA game. His first 5 years seem to get worse in some folks eyes every season. You do know who Cal replaced here ? Because I do. $5 tickets outside and go sit in the student section on the 2nd row behind David Toombs. Low donations and no Finch center.

Selective enforcement, end of story. Nobody wins without the best players.

Yep the powers that be got so tired of Cal cheating and winning here so they got Billy Clyde a DUI and got him the UK job so he can cheat in harmony. Hell UCLA has a banner for 1995. Jim Harrick couldn't even blow his nose at Jawja and Rhode Island doe.

When we mowed down Texas, Michigan State and UCLA it was more than the NCAA could take from little old Memphis.

All because Illinois was crying after their home grown boy went to Memphis.
