Thought there was a huge crowd watching the dirt moving. Then a car passed and realized that it was parked cars that I thought
were people.

You know our fanbase is starved for something going on at Paulson if people will watch dirt moving. I have been told the webcams at the stadium showing this construction have had very high volume viewership.

Yeah they have, which is why quality of the feed is so poor right now, and the other camera feed is disabled completely. If you catch it right around 5 when everyone is leaving work, it functions great haha.

This expansion should have happened at least 10 years ago, regardless of FBS movement. When you have about 15,000 actual seats and average nearly 20,000 per game, there's no reason to put it off.

What will the stadium look like when everything is finally complete?

We had the worst used car salesman in the history of used car salesman as an AD. Sammy Baker set us back 20 years, really.

Baker was ridiculous. Sounded like he never had any confidence in raising any money and just wanted to sit in
his fox hole and keep his job as long as possible. Best AD replacement in history.

The worst part was a great percentage of our fan base that would ride or die with him to keep up appearances.

They've dug out half of that hill already. Its been like 100 truckloads of dirt, and I don't think thats an exaggeration. Nice to see them getting to work on the stands too, the extended seats shouldn't take too long. (They only have a 1.5 months anyway)

Years ago I said they should get rid of him on the GaSo board and thought I was going to have death threats.

For the last few years of his administration, I think public opinion was very negative towards Baker.

Easily one of the more controversial topics on the board. Apparently our President wasn't even sure it was the right move. Hindsight is always 20/20, and in this case it's very easy to realize we have made the right choice.

Dave Coulson did a piece on Baker calling him the hatchet man after Sewak was fired. That got a large part of the fanbase to rally behind Baker. I think it was more of a "We know he sucks but you attack one of us you attack us all" type of thing. That was the height of his popularity with the fanbase. It quickly started eroding away after that. By the time Hatcher was fired I don't think there was much of anybody who supported that man.

I'm probably going to get warned for this but I always prefered the "We know he's an ******* but he's OUR *******," thought process on that one.

Any other writer other than Coulson wouldn't have generated that kind of sympathy for Sammy. I still look back on those days and laugh about it. The guy was the Teflon AD. It was truly a surreal experience. The sheer volume of ultimate f-up moves with impunity. I really think, circa 2004, that the guy could have been found in possession of child pornography and still his minions would pass the buck.

Baker was a cancer for the program. He knew he didn't have the skills or motivation to take the program FBS so he fought it and was a one man pr machine using any spin, mis-information he could to scare people about FBS. It was all pure bs. His only goal was to hold onto his paycheck until he could afford to retire and bolt back home to VA. It was all about his personal gain and not the future of the university. With that said, his boss didn't want anything to do with FBS either.

Mr."Think Big, and Scale Back" Baker seemed to portray the program through the lens of limitations instead of moving outside the box. With Baker, would this move have been possibly ? I have my doubts, he seemed to be about maintaining the status quo.

It would have been possible of course. But, Sammy would have stonewalled any momentum going forward.
