RE: Favorite Stadium of the SBC.
You don't dig down into solid granite too easily. At least not without a lot of blasting and expense.

Notice though that this is an old picture of Kidd Brewer Stadium, has the old turf on there and shows not even end zone seating on the North side closest to person taking the picture. That end zone seating was done and then enlarged. There was pictures and it was disclosed that we would be adding a much larger structure there also, in addition to another level on the East side if additions are done as they proposed. Take it we have not heard of this yet because they are reviewing their proposals since they said we would make immediate enlargements once FBS was announced.

Track has to be built before can take stadium track out.
Old Watauga High School site is back on the market as of last week, would like to see App State purchase it and put the track there.

No need to stir the pot, I've already said your stadium is still a bit nicer. It's just hard to compare one to another. Stadiums like ours and Veterans (Troy) will always look a fraction smaller than everyone else from the outside because half our stadium is buried. You cant really get the feel for them until you are standing in the bowl. That was my point. :)

Our stadium is partially buried, otherwise we wouldn't have our hill. The biggest thing we need to do is get rid of the damn track and expand with permanent end zone seating on the north side.

Your new additions from what I've seen will still be in the bottom half of the conference as far as stadiums go. IMO.

But I'll hold off that judgement till I see the final product.

That's the point. If your a fan of the Sun Belt you should consider not bashing a members venue, particularly when you've never actually been to the stadium. We have one of the best game day experiences in the country at our level. For me it's far and away the best. Glad your considering joining us for a game. You want regret it.

By the way, that is an absolutely horrendous picture of Georgia Southern's Paulsen Stadium. Looks as if it was taken after a huge drought. Here is a better one, and there are even better. It's a lot better than what some SB posters seem to think. Once they do their enlargements it will be even better. Wouldn't worry too much about their stadium anyway, just their team.

RE: Favorite Stadium of the SBC.
Honestly, seeing Paulson in person and actually experiencing the gameday disappointed me when I went for the first time last year. It looks much smaller in person than it does in pictures and the noise wasn't what I was expecting after hearing GaSo fans talk it up on message boards like they are now. I'm not sure if the fans just weren't very loud or the architecture and shallow gradient zapped all their noise but it was about half as loud as what I'm used to from our games.

I remember thinking "If this is 22,000, Kidd Brewer averages 38,000."

Not trying to be derogatory. Just honestly assessing my experience last fall. The GaSo fans I met were great and the tailgate was fun.

Appalachian just installed them last year, I believe there are two on each side of the stadium. Low-quality pic but it's all I could find:

It has its days. The shallowness doesn't help either, there's much less surface area to bounce sound off of. On another note, thats like the 3rd or 4th time I've seen you post the exact same thing on this message board. Any additional input would be appreciated... :)

I can't speak for that game last season, I ran the Rock'n'Roll marathon that day and didn't really feel up to standing for 3 hours in a stadium afterward.

03-lmfao Just trying to temper expectations. If I don't you're going to have a slew of other SBC fans saying "WTF, you guys are Liars" the first time they make a trip to Statesboro.

Here's one from 2007/2008 timeframe. From this angle you can see our main tailgate lot. The concessions/restrooms and concourse on the right side had not been rennovated yet.

EDIT: Looks like this is 2007 vs Furman. Attendance: 23,373

From this angle it looks like a moldy toilet seat. If you hold your head like this, it, ah never mind.

22,155

And while App did bring the most visitors last year, it was still only in the 1k range.

Troy will easily blow that figure away.

It will be very refreshing to play teams that actually travel.

I'm not certain to what degree but along with the stadium expansion and FOC quite a significant sum has been marked for restroom and concession improvements along the concourse. As I understand it there will be additional locations. The existing were just upgraded a couple yrs ago.
