I will stand by my prediction that even if Liberty doesn't get in now, they will eventually be in the SBC. There is still a lot of uncertainty, and eventually need will cause No's to become Yes's.

You are wrong about that.

Missouri State and JMU play football in leagues that are different legal entities from their league for other sports.

They can accept an invitiation from the Sun Belt anytime between now and June 30 with no impact on their FCS status unless they choose to notify the NCAA of intent to change.

If they so desired and the Sun Belt agreed, either could enter the Sun Belt for all sports except football and leave their football in their current conference indefinetely

Actually, what Liberty needs is for a good number of No's (who will always be NO's) to leave before the other No's think about becoming Yes's.

The SB meetings are in the next week or so, right? Anyone think there is any chance of an invite and acceptance here in the last 10 days or so of May?

Unless someone has a soft invite ,all their paperwork filled out already and the associated checks ready to be mailed on 5/16...doubtful.

I was alluding to football. Every other sport is already on equal footing in DI and, therefore, can move without issues. The football move has to be declared.

Right but based on all signs, there is little reason to think Missouri State or JMU would declare intention to reclassify prior to their final football game of 2013.

But if they are so inclined, it could make a lot of sense to accept a Sun Belt invite between June 1 and June 30 so they can recruit in 2013 with everyone knowing that as soon as the football season ends they are declaring for FBS.

Just a hunch or did you hear that? EKU has solid football and would be good for App geographically but I thought I'd heard they were not ready financially for an FBS move.
The Eastern Kentucky Colonels have a 20,000 seat football stadium and a higher sports budget than Georgia Southern.
Just a hunch, but could see it happening.

I agree. EKU would be a fine school for the SB. WKU was a good addition, bet EKU would be also.
Paperwork for the NCAA is filed after they know what they are doing, only takes about a day to fill out.

RE: June 1st is looming large on the horizon!
I don't think anything has been finalized, but wasn't there a motion to cap Group of 5 base revenue at $1 million per school or $12 million max? If that holds up, a 16-team CUSA would mean a $250K loss per school on the base. Are they thinking TV wants to pay more for the FAU vs North Texas game in CUSA than they did in the SBC?

CUSA doesn't look any more attractive to me than the SBC from an Eastern perspective, but I can see where a Western SBC school might want to move for geographical/rivalry reasons. Otherwise, it looks like winning on the field will be the path to more money in G5 (as it should be). It's certainly going to be interesting to watch this next chapter of college football classification unfold for the rest of this decade.

It depends on your geography. If it gets you playing schools that are closer to you then its worth it.

Not really heard anything recently from the Sun Belt as to their intentions. Wouldn't surprise me though.

They claim that moving to 16 allows them to offset expenses to make up for the loss of revenue sharing. Some think the league accepts the concept but can't agree who to add...east v. west.

If they do expand, I hope for the SBC's sake we keep ULL and ASU. I would hate to see us lose two of the better names and programs.

I hope the SBC doesn't keep UL or ASU. They are a better fit in the CUSA footprint now.

There are a couple of schools holding this up. Chiefly UAB since they lobbied for Eastern adds and another couple adds could put them in the West division.

Well ULL and Ark State would put them back in the east.

How do you know this is factual ? One or two schools cannot really block anything as it's just one or two votes. When or if the decision is made to invite additional schools, the presidents (all 14) as a whole will make the decision, not one or two. UAB might recommend but that's all. As I've said numerous times in the past, I personally prefer staying at the existing 14.

Although I do not want to see them go, would reduce name controversies, and we could alternately utilize ASU.
