Mory Dane made an unofficial during one of our home football games (Illinois State, I believe).

Here is some very good info on the 2014 class, includes a mention of the above mentioned prospect.

look at the height in the upcoming classes (2014 and 2015) and lack there of in the current (2013) class. Note: Even the one big man in this year's class is expected to go to prep school.

2 kids that EMU likes in the class of 2014 are: Davis a 6'4 Combo Guard and his teammate Fredericks, a 6'7 PF, both attend Douglas HS in Detroit.

Lot depends on if and when we get transfers in the weeks head.

Murphy has decided at least for 2013, that others (e.g., JUCOs, transfers(?), etc.) have more value than available MI h.s. talent (e.g., Robinson, Plummer, etc.).

As Mel Kiper would say about NFL draft choices "it is about VALUE"!

EMU I'M SURE IS RECRUITING THE DELASALLE KID AND THE YPSI KID, CRITICAL YEAR FOR BRINGING IN SOME LOCAL HS PLAYERS.

This could be a good year for EMU ON PAPER.

It is a year where IF we are going to make a splash in MI it would be 2014.

This list from Steve Bell has kids from schools from which we have players: Birm Country Day, Bloomfield Hills Lasher, etc. A local school, Ypsilanti. A former player's school, Taylor Truman, and Warren De La Salle (I'm counting Matt B as a former player and graduate-school ends this week? correct?). As well as players Hoopster has indicated we are definitely recruiting.

2014
1. Edmond Sumner 6-3 Jr Birmingham Country Day
2. AJ Turner 6-6 Jr Warren De La Salle
3. Aaron Foster-Smith 6-6 Jr Taylor Truman
4. Justin Tillman 6-7 Jr Detroit Pershing
5. Jamal Poplar 6-8 Jr River Rouge
6. Darrell Davis 6-4 Jr Detroit Douglass
7. Jaylen Johnson 6-8 Jr Ypsilanti
8. Marqywell Jackson 6-4 Jr Detroit East English Village
9. Mory Diane 6-4 Jr Birmingham Country Day
10. Luke Meyer 6-10 Jr Addison Central Michigan
11. Deshaun Thrower 6-0 Jr Muskegon
12. Yante Maten 6-8 Jr Bloomfield Hills Lahser
Grand Rapids Christian's Drake Harris now classified as football-only prospect

Yes and many, many other schools.

E.g.,

The Warren DeLasalle kid has been offered by Arizona State, Dayton, Iowa State, UMass, and a ton of others like UDM, Oakland, and MAC schools.

That is an example of how competitive MI recruiting is. :(

My guess is that Murphy's first choice is 7 feet and about 235.

Long and essentially lean.

Does Bob W. remember Marvin Webster, the human eraser?

EMU probably didn't have a chance but #1, Sumner, is headed to Xavier per Steve Bell.

Getting Jodan Price might MARGINALLY help EMU with Diane.

When Jodan was a senior at DCD Mory would have been a sophomore.

One would assume they would talk hoops, recruiting, EMU, etc.

With the exception of Sumner (committed to Xavier), Meyer (Addison - committed to CMU) and Thrower (Muskegon) EMU can be expected to recruit the other NINE of Steve Bell's top 12.

As Hoopster has noted EMU is known to be recruiting some of these "uncommitted nine".

Maybe a fun year for the Hoopster. 03-cloud9
