Can't wait to visit Virginia Beach
Hi Monarchs.

I hope I have the opportunity to travel to Virginia Beach to see the Pirates play the Monarchs someday in football.

I've never been to Virginia Beach and have always wanted to visit.

I'm not sure if ECU can schedule FCS schools any more but I think it would be a good annual tune-up game for us....you know...to run practice plays and what not. It would also give our bench players some game experience.

Anyway....good luck Monarchs.04-cheers

RE: Can't wait to visit Virginia Beach
You guys don't have any issues scheduling division II teams in basketball so playing in Norfolk shouldn't be an issue. We're looking forward to coming to Greenville this fall, with the close proximity we should send alot of fans and probably convert a few of yours once they realize how rediculous they look in purple.

Norfolk? Why would we have to play in Norfolk?

I'm glad a lot of ODU fans will show up for the football game in Greenville....but for their sake I hope the actual football team shows up too.

40smokingcannon, ODU is located on the west side of Norfolk, VA. It is not far from Virginia Beach, but it is entirely separate from Virginia Beach.

Norfolk? Where is that? Never heard of it. I'll have to read about it on Wikipedia.

I read an article with your coach Wilder saying he told recruits about Virginia Beach and how ODU's location there was an advantage...so I assumed ODU was in Virginia Beach. Norfolk must really suck donkey balls if the head coach doesn't want to tell recruits which city the school is in. Is Norfolk a city?

Yeah....but it's gotta be a little bit good. You have taken the time out of your busy schedule to respond to it...so I must have touched a nerve somewhere....just a little?

BTW I just read about Norfolk and I can say one thing Greenville and Norfolk both have in common is they both start with the letter "G".

I didn't even realize you were trying to talk smack, dude. It wasn't good smack lol I thought you were just ignorant. It's pretty typical for people to refer to the entire "757" as Virginia Beach out of ignorance.

Well now I'm really confused (or maybe just ignorant). Is ODU in Virginia Beach, Norfolk or the "757"? Are all of these just referring to the same place? I'm assuming (again showing my ignorance) that the "757" is what the gangs call the area so it's really cool to call it that?

The gangs of 'GVegas' vs the gangs of Norfolk would be a pretty good battle actually.

Don't walk the wrong way down 5th at night, you get to them tracks and your Sperry's won't carry you fast enough. Which brings up another point, what's with the Sperrys, pastel shorts, and croakies? The Tar isn't known for its yacht clubs is it?

Gangs of Greenville vs. Gangs of Norfolk probably wouldn’t be a very good battle. I’d have to give the edge to Norfolk solely based on sheer numbers. I would think Nawfuk has at least four times the amount of hood rats that Greenville does. Don’t get me wrong the Greenville hood rats are good…damn good….but I wouldn’t give them the edge.
Sperry’s and pastel shorts? Are you sure you aren’t talking about the colorful residents of Ghent? I mean, I hear sailors don’t even go into Ghent…..now that’s scarry.

We may have you on pure numbers. But there is no way we have you beat on a per capita basis. Greenville is just better at producing convicts than we are in Norfolk. 01-ncaabbs

I think most people in Hampton Roads consider Virginia Beach to be an asset, it must be hard for you to understand what a geographical asset might be like, so please visit. The local PD take pride in putting people with crappy attitudes like yours in a cell, then you'll feel like a real ECU fan as one of our finest residents would love to plunder your pirate's booty.

As for ECU playing FCS teams, why is it that you guys very rarely do? ECU has a great football program, one that ODU aspires to be like, but you're not big time, don't kid yourself that you're above anything, if ECU was the big pay day for FCS teams then you might consider yourselves big boys in NC.

The ODU game in particular will not be easy for you guys, it might be wise for you to hold your tongue until after the game.

All in all I give the trolling attempt a solid 2/10. It invoked some responses but ultimately failed. I suggest you stick to being plain rude, you had much more success doing that in other threads.

So....if ODU beats ECU in football....ODU fans are going to treat the victory just like all the other ones in ODU's long and illustrious history? You know...treat beating ECU just like your victories against Presbyterian and Wofford and Newport News Apprentice and Tidewater Community College and all the other mighty powers ODU has faced and beaten? That's cool with me.

You're right....my trolling hasn't been very good...I admit that. See, you guys are used to FCS level trolling and I thought I would start out easy and work my way up slowly to more FBS level trolling. I can imagine some of the smack talk posters from Delaware and William and Mary are brutal. Rudeness is my forte when I have someone to play with. But apparently ODU fans are lame and (judging by your poor attempt at smack talk...you really hurt my feelings BTW) aren't ready for the step-up in competition, football or trolling.

Speaking of beating things and full contact sports. ECU should be commended for their football teams new outreach program. Looks like they've teamed up with VCU's Art Dept to put on quite a wonderful skit in an effort to recruit a much more flexible offensive line.
