ACC agrees to Grant of Rights among members
Brett McMurphy ‏@McMurphyESPN 48m
ACC presidents approve Grant of Rights thru 2026-27 sources tell @espn. B1G will have to look elsewhere. 1st reported by @DavidGlennShow

Brett McMurphy ‏@McMurphyESPN 40m
W/ACC, Big 12, P12 having Grant of Rights, if B1G wants to get to 16, they have to target SEC or smaller Group of 5 leagues or BYU

RE: ACC agrees to Grants of Right among members
That's huge for the ACC. I didn't realize the Pac-12 had a GoR as well; I had only heard about the Big XII's. Looks like the none of the power 5 conferences are going to be gutted anytime soon. This is likely the step that causes realignment to stop spinning for a while.

1. I doubt Notre Dame is involved with the GoR
2. I still wouldn't trust Texas.

Rumors are that it's unanimous inclusive of Notre Dame. One such tweet:

David Glenn Show @DavidGlennShow
BREAKING: Multiple DG sources says ACC will announce unanimous 15 school agreement extending Grant of Media Rights

RE: ACC agrees to Grants of Right among members
Basically, it makes it too cost-prohibitive for a team to leave its conference. It's much stronger than the ACC's current $50M exit fee.

Link

Quote:The deal includes a "grant of rights" agreement, meaning if a Big 12 school leaves for another league in the next 13 years, that school's media rights, including revenue, would remain with the Big 12 and not its new conference.

Of course the GoR can be contested in court, just like Maryland is doing with the exit fee. But until someone wants to challenge a GoR in court, there will be some stability in conference membership.

Yes RT @rylucas12: @McMurphyESPN is Notre Dame included in this?

http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...ources-say
The grant of rights coincides with the ACC's TV deal with ESPN through the 2026-27 season. That deal was worth $17 million per school per year, but sources told ESPN last year it is expected to increase to at least $20 million per school per year with the addition of Notre Dame.

Let's hope that stability is real for the ACC. UAB can still play-up and become attractive to recruits and to future conference affiliations as long as a spot exists and we can increase someone's bottom line.

So what schools outside of the Big 5 qualify for the Big Ten in terms of academics?

Depends upon what those requirements are after they let Nebraska in that didn't meet those that were assumed to be in place previously.

AAU schools outside of the Big 5 that sponsor FBS football:
Rice
Tulane
Buffalo

I don't think the B1G would be interested in any of those schools.

That helps the AAC meaning they won't lose those schools to the ACC, which was a foregone conclusion.

Tulane or Rice could fit IMO. Look no farther than Northwestern or even Purdue. Rice adds Texas and I am convinced the AAC added Tulane because of New Orleans...
