don't think especially UConn would be a viable option for the Big 12 quite frankly.

If true, Notre Dame got everything it wanted out of conference realignment, then.

It gets access to the playoffs and to the Orange Bowl as an independent, seven football games a year under its control, the NBC deal and the ACC deal with the existing fourteen teams staying intact for at least ten years and its other sports televised via an ACC network.

Not bad, Jack Swarbrick and John Swofford.

As much as I like Cincinnati, I really don't believe UC is a candidate either.

Might be why Maryland ran when they had the opportunity to go too. They may have known what was up next and tipped the B-10 off to what was coming telling them it is now or never. The money helped too. 05-stirthepot 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 04-jawdrop 02-13-banana COGS

I'd say it's the other way around. Maryland leaving is what spurred the GoR.

Actually, there's likely some truth to that...

I'm sure ESPN was helping wherever it could too. Good move for ESPN and the ACC.

Jim Delany and his alleged 16-20 school Big Ten Conference just took one in the shorts if this news is true.

Then the B12 goes after UCF and USF to satisfy Fox wanting the B12 in Florida.

Also how does the UMD case versus the ACC involve this?

FSU wanted either the B10 or SEC and neither wanted them.

The only difference seems that Louisville,Syracuse and Pitt signed the GOR and that FSU does not want to be in the B12.

Also what ND signed must be quite different from what the others signed.

There's always a chance Delany will do what he should've earlier. Pick up Mizzou and Kansas.

The KC and StL markets would be great additions and fill in the entirety of the Midwest market. I'd LOVE to see that.

Huge if true.

Doesn't mean realignment is done, just changes where targets can come from.

03-lmfao

The moment Fox starts dictating to Texas who it will play ball with will be the moment DeLoss Dodd places a call to Greensboro prompting the ACC and Texas negotiate terms of conference membership.

Taking my post and yours combined, it would be very interesting if the B1G were able to pick up Mizzou and KU.

The SEC could invite OU and OSU (since I think they're tied together politically) and put real pressure on Texas to move over to the SEC.

Yes the SEC would then have two schools each in Texas and Oklahoma, but we're talking UT/ATM, OU/Ok State. HUGE win in my book for the SEC. HUGE.

Well, I have no idea what this will mean in terms of actual conference shuffling.

A couple things can be deduced though (if reports are true).

1 -- 15 schools signed off on this, so it appears that the members of the ACC are fine being in the ACC.

2. -- This grant of rights move, along with the exploration of it's own channel, shows that the conference commissioner is doing everything he can to ensure his league survive further raiding. Imagine if the Big East Conference had leadership with that kind of pro-activity.

As a Louisville fan, I'm thankful that Maryland bolted. But I feel for those left out. Who knows, maybe the AAC can build something of themselves now that the constant shuffling has appeared to come to a halt.

Let's all collectively point and laugh at the WVU "insiders".

That's ok - Rutgers made in under the new 14 team set up. Killer division though with Ohio St, Michigan, Michigan St, and Penn St in it when their sanctions are over. The money will make 4th place in the division easy to take though when Rutgers can beat Michigan St, Maryland, and Indiana in the same year. Then again 4th place in the East Division with a couple of wins against teams from the West Division coupled on to a couple of OOC wins will put Rutgers in a decent bowl too.

Might not smell the Roses but the alternative bowls are not bad along with the new found B-10 money either.

Eh, don't really see any of that.

IMO

Mizzou would rather be recruiting Texas, Louisiana, Georgia and Florida than Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Don't see the SEC ever using a precious realignment slot on OSU which precludes OU as well and I cant see UT swallowing their pride and following us. I think its much more likely UT/OU/OSU/TTU go to the PAC to form a west division with the Arizona schools and Colorado and Utah than the SEC.

You could very well be right. If that were the case, Baylor, TCU, KSU and ISU would be be looking to add to their conference I'm sure. Just crazy. Realignment is definitely not over.
