In reality, neither MT nor WKU gets much "coverage" in Nashville unless one of them plays and better yet, beats a perceived power school. Given that MT is south of Nashville an WKU is north of Nashville, I've noticed a distinct difference when I'm on the northside suburbs of Nashville from when I'm on the southside suburbs. The northside has many transplants from Kentucky and many friends/relatives/alum ect. that have connections to WKU. On the southside, the same is true for connections with MT. With that said, based on my "perception", when I'm at Rivergate Mall (located on the northside), I see WKU decals, WKU apparel, and "hello's" when I'm seen with WKU gear. Not so much when I'm at the mall in Franklin area.

With all that said, UT gets most of the coverage for college sports. Vandy gets a lot as well because they play lots of the perceived "power" schools. It's just the nature of things. That doesn't mean people care more about Vandy, it's just that a metro area of 1.5 million people have a diverse interest in college athletics....many Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia transplants....so, anytime someone in the area plays SEC teams they get coverage....it's just that Vandy and UT are SEC and play lots of SEC teams. When WKU beat UK, WKU got lots of coverage in Nashville....more because of UK than WKU. The same applies when MT beat Georgia Tech.

In the end, MT gets a little more coverage but on the total scale, we're talking little coverage to begin with.....

There... my two cents.

I think it depends on the media. Radio you're absolutely correct although we seem to get a little more each year on radio. Once upon a time if you called into talk MT you wouldn't make it past the screener. Now you can always get through. Also I have noticed when a second station pops up like 106.7 did or now 102.5. The both start talking MT more I think because the audience has thinned out and they are looking for a niche. For example Plaster before the move would never talk MT but now he talks MT regularly. Partly because his new show is being syndicated in our strong holds but I think the competition is forcing them to try to reach out to more listeners and fan bases. It's still small compared to UT, Vandy or the real big brother to all of us, the Titans, but I would say the MT talk is roughly double that of Belmont, WKU etc.

TV media, including their websites, our coverage recently is almost equal to all the AQ schools. Our games normally get a quick rundown on TV just like Vandy and UT and we have basically equal coverage on their websites ie our on tab with daily stories just like vandy and UT. I think the few times our games didn't get covered will get better with CUSA because a few of our road games didn't get video shown in the sports rundown because none was available. I don't think that will be the case in CUSA.

Print media is somewhere between the two. We have pretty equal web coverage on the Tennessean site thanks to them sharing content with the DNJ. In the print version however our coverage is weak. We are normally in the paper but it is typically small and in a poor location.

Just my two cents.

TOPPERSonTOP you are not allowed to voice your "opinion" some people will take that as "fact" and go from there. It's your fault someone misinterpreted what you meant.

btw I was joking.

But to the point sometimes you can take it a tad bit to far but that's what youngsters do at times. I would drop it and revisit this come football season. But that should be your choice and not mathenis89, mine, or anyone else, unless it's a mod telling you, your breaking some type of rule.

What you and most people who gets this Nashville media will see or hear is the team having a great season will get the most coverage. Both have a average year...barely a mention. Honestly that's the way it's going to be 9 out of 10 years.

I stand by my assertion that TOPPERSonTOP is not, in fact, a WKU fan. Rather, he has to be another SBC fan trolling us all... right? A dastardly ploy to make WKU fans look totally insane? There's no way he is real - its just pure gold every time he posts...

Absolutely agree.
The crumbs that MTSU and WKU get are very minimal, and usually at the end of the sports segment.
Neither 'owns' any market in Nashville.

Question. I went to the haven to read some about this Withrow stuff and read multiple post about MT (KD/CM)trying to get the rules changed to get us in. Did I miss something or is this just a case where the left brain created and the right side believed it in a couple of fans? I dont think any changes that could be made would help us this year so I don't get it. Just curious as to what I missed.

But that goes for anyone's home board TBH.

Speaking of left brain and right brain, MT has two totally different fanbases between your folks who post on your scout board and those who post on your rivals board. It's interesting reading.

Glad you are entertained. Good news is unlike the echo chamber that is the haven you are welcome to post so come on by. One day you will have enough fans to get that second site up and going.

I rarely visit other teams boards because as you can imagine, they're not as pleasant as folks from those schools who post here....well most who post here. Neither of your boards are real active, I don't read the women's threads tho, but there does seem to be a different personality to each of your two boards. One is more evenhanded and the other is very vocal and vitriolic. The Haven has both and the two sides seem to fight quite often. Not sure if that's a good thing or bad.

Very astute observation and very correct. I personally gravitated to the Scout board (which is no longer associated with Scout and is operating as an independent, at least for now), but would also frequent the Rivals board for additional perspective. Very different from each other in tenor.

I rarely have had trouble on other boards, but I try to act as a guest should. The one exception was when this clown on the troy board wanted to sue us. That's died down when troy did the same thing he wanted to sue us for.

I would venture a guess that if you averaged the ages of posters the rivals board would be about ten years younger than scout. Scout is the hold over from the Delphi days. It has way more heavy hitters as far as donors and insiders to the program. You tend have a lot more "company men" that respond negatively to any criticism. I don't blame they give a lot and want to protect their investment. It is the place to go for inside info.
The rivals board is a lot more reactionary. Venting is more welcomed. Rivals site is way better for recruiting. It is run buy young single kids that really man the phones and social media talking to recruits. Definitely different tenors to the boards.

i visited it the other night for schaudenfreude purposes only after we pulled a close one out against you.

needless to say....it didn't disappoint.

i wouldn't have dared to post even in conciliatory fashion.
